Sticky Flaps - Spyder HVAC

I think I have a sticky flaps problem on my Spyder heater. Everything works except if I move the central knob to any position except the one for demist and footwell, I get the E on the temp indicator. Diagnostic shows AA65. If I move it back to that one position (the usual one I have it on) the error clears.

My question is whether there is anything I can do to free up the stuck flap without removing the whole dashboard? If I really have to I guess I will but not before Le Mans. If there are any cheats I’d love to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Used to have the same problem but when I did the heater matrix I disconnected the flap motors and worked the flaps by hand and could feel the resistance when the flaps where going from the openings to inside the housing. I could feel a ridge in the plastic where the flap was going tight so used a stanly blade and scraped the ridge away and put a little Vaseline there, been ok since.

Thanks Cliff, that’s helpful. Seems like I will have to take the dashboard off (one day…). I can see part of the heater casing behind the NIT screen which I’ve replaced so is easy to remove.

Have you done a reset on the system, this may clear the issue.

Cheers, I did try that a couple of times but no joy. It ran for about 15 minutes with the 2 lights flashing and eventually I gave up and just turned the ignition off.
