Steering wheel column / Steering wheel buttons

Hi all,

I am new to the QPV, I recently bought a GTS and those two accessories do not function, (buttons and the electronic movement of the column) can those two be related, if so, I was wondering if it is something common ? The horn and the Airbag are working properly.

In case these are related, can anyone make any guess?

Well it’s not a fuse as there is no fuse that only operates the electriCal adjustment of the steering wheel and steering wheel buttons. So possibly some loose wiring (not sure if there is a common power supply) or loose connector. I would remove the protector plate under the steering column and look for anything suspicious there first.

The buttons are a known issue on the QP / GT. There is a thread on Maserati Life which indicates the repair involves replacing the capacitors. Not sure that it would impact the electric adjustment, but if it's the same as the GT, you need to turn it on....

Yes, I am amazed for a car with such big production, so soon. BTW the factory is out of stock currently from front sock absorbers.

Quick update, first, I am stupid, the steering column works fine, the steering wheel was placed up and far away from the driver to the end. When I tried to move it, I only tried towards those two directions.... So, this is not a problem anymore.

Funny thing with the steering wheel buttons, is that they all get electricity (both sides). I guess I will have to find an electronics specialist and try to identify the cause of the fault. There is power but no command.

Was a simple fix for me on the GT...turned out to be the clock spring which I replaced with a £40 2nd hand ebay one. It looked like the wired connection had split/shorted

Worth a try!

Can this be my issue as well? Since I have power on each end of the buttons i thought the clock spring will be good.

Ok, lights on the buttons don't light up, bizarre because the electrician was able to find power on the button. Perhaps there are only some cables from the clock spring that are damaged (?). Either way I consider it good news and I am ordering the spiral contact to replace it and see. Thank you !

Fingers crossed for you!
Like I said in my case the wire was shorted, looked like it might have been trapped and worked loose over time.

Certainly worth further trial & error
