Hi I was hoovering out the stowage locker for the roof on my spyder which you have to do with the roof part open. And now it won't complete the cycle ....what do I do??

Max,

In the hand book it has a emergency close section...good luck and at least its sunny!

Once you have close it by following this route, turn the battery off for a while then run the roof through a open and closed cycle to re-set the ECU

Max mine did the same

Just leave it for half an hour and try again. It worked for me.

Oh, make sure the handbrake is engaged.

The roof getting out of sync from being stopped mid cycle is a bit worrying at first but a mixture of the emergency procedure and a battery reset will get it back in sync.
After you have played with it a few times it stops being a worry. I regularly prop up the rear cover to clean the inside and I use the emergency procedure to release the hydraulic pressure so I can manually move it and reset.

On occasion my worm gears stick, Bennys is the same. These worm gears are the first things to move and release/tensions the rear most part of the hood.

Get out and give it a gentle tap and it will then release.

Yep, mines the same if I haven't run the roof for a while. But I thought it ws just the release, I regularly spray a bit of wd40 in the holes and also cycle the roof periodically in the winter months.

Hi - I'm having this same problem, had roof half open to look at rear speaker installs, left for a while then came to find rear window section had dropped back down, front section still secure, roof no wanna move either way!

I've tried disconnecting battery for a while, not working.

Have tried manually releasing front section, pushing rear section down and then pressing rear of the roof button - lowers a bit but not securing, then lifts up again.

Not sure if I am missing a step?

This used to worry me when it first happened but you soon get use to it.

Follow the emergency procedure, release both switches in the back gentle lift the rear and then turn the ignition back on. It normally resets and all works again.

Thanks for your reply - sorry if being dim, but what exactly do you mean by releasing both switches in the back?

Just realised I have the crucial pages 95 and 96 missing from my handbook! Any chance someone could please take photos of those pages for me? :)

Follow the link in #3 and it will tell you what to do. If you have an I-pad, bring up the post and take a picture of it.

I've been trying those instructions, but no joy - as my roof was already up, I assume I only need to start at step G and don't need to worry about C and D.

Do the windows need to be up for this process to work, as mine are down and refusing to move?

Boots not open is it?

If it is, the action stops. Open it and give it a good slam.

What position are you stuck in now, Alex? Roof cover open or locked? Back section, front section etc. that might help work out what step to take next.

I must admit, when something like this happened with me I just played around with the two switches in the rear glove compartment and eventually it would untangle itself and I could get it closed / open.

Got it! :D

Thanks everyone for your assistance - trying to do this without pages 95 and 96 of the handbook was the problem, as that must be where the two buttons IN THE REAR GLOVE BOX are mentioned! I thought all references to buttons were the ones between the front seats, never seen those hidden buttons before! Did think it was strange everyone kept referring to 1 rocker button as 2 buttons :conf:

Would really appreciate if someone can take a photo of the 2 missing pages for me, so I can print them out and stick in my handbook ....

Cheers again! :thumb1:

What are the chances of you needing those 2 pages?! Let's hope the rest of your manual is intact - glad you got it sorted

Glad it's sorted - they are essential knowledge. The first time mine got in a mess I drove to the nearest dealer who kindly and without the slightest hint of a condescending attitude showed me where they were. Happy days!
