Hi update - left on charge and guess what it happened again!!! - Took off charge started car yep roof worked - tried a second time a bit later roof wont open.

So unless any one can give some technical support it could well be a battery issue calling in to much amp thus reducing the power to the relays anr roof not operating as voltage dropped?

Any thoughts? brought the car in 2010 had it over 3 years same battery but only a AC Delco 66H3 66AH550CCA this is less than is recommended in the manual? so has this battery enough "B***s" for the job or just given up?

Thoughts please

I'd think a new battery has to be worth a punt at this point. It's going to be cheaper than time at Bill McGrath's I'd have thought, and come winter, you may be glad you bought it.

Did you have the engine running when you tried to open the roof? If it works with the engine running then it is the battery! Personal experience.

I agree with Alfazagato. FWIW, I changed my battery to a high amp hour Bosch from Halfrauds but the roof should work with the engine running. I don't tend to raise or lower the roof on the battery as it is quite a drain on it.

Ditto, only drop and raise the roof with the engine running. Its a lot to ask all that ampage from the battery.

If it still refuses check the relays and fuses and also check the worm gears in the rear deck are not sticking, give them a tap, usually works.

Failing that pump or sensor.

Oh, also check the straps in the roof are intact. If they are broken the frame does not collapse and jams the roof.

All simple stuff to check.

Sorry on business fitted a new battery before leaving guess what roof works. Decided not to mess further until Saturday when I get back. Will see if it works I never operate the roof just on the b
attery. Could it be the alternator not generating sufficient amperage and draining juice from the battery to make up the difference. So together not enough to operate the roof. We will see Saturday.

Help please same old problem with roof. How do I unlock the rear worm drives? hit the plate and I recon this only unlocks the catches holding the lid down? Should the worm drives not have to rotate to free them selves? and advice please Thanks Peter
