I'll take that back then ... didn't see it was a 3.2 ...... Wonder if I could drop the old classic 3.2 V6 in the front of my Brera......That would be a much nicer car...

That's the only thing that holds me back from getting a 3.2 Brera, my poxy 2.5 V6 busso is a match for them ;)

The weight of a 4200... with about half the bhp...

Dave

260bhp from a 3.2 Brera/159, 390-sh from a 4200 so not exactly half is it ....?

Lots of rose -tinted specs around the old Busso motor isn't there ? Apart from the actual look of the engine I much prefer the performance and drive from my 3.2 Q4 159 to either of my old 3.0V6 166's. Plus my 2.0 T Spark 166 is a better car than either of those V6's ever were. I doubt a 2.5 V6 Alfa could match a 3.2 Brera / 159 regardless of the weight...

Your probably right.. no 2.5 Alfa V6 would get a look in with even a heavy 3.2 Brera... But neither engine was very efficient with nowhere near 100bhp per Litre!

OK, I'll drop a 4200 engine in her then ;-)

The Brera is heavy no matter engine is in her...I love the look of my Brera but it was a missed opportunity for Alfa ...... So noise heavy and you can physically feel the weight when pushing on. Such a shame for such a pretty car...But then Alfa has lost its way over the years and none of the current range cut it....plus it is now old compared to rivals. I have a 1 series pool car which is quicker, more fun than the Giulietta I had for a week.....and before any shouts the Alfa has character and soul...nope the Alfa didn't have any.....I really, really, really hope that the new Guilia puts this right.....it should with its rear wheel drive but we have been here before expecting greatness for it to fall slightly short............Alfa need a new range of cars and quickly as the 4c cannot carry the flag alone and even that is a nearly car if you believe what you read. So while the new engines may be quicker than the old Busso they certainly do not make you feel the same when driving.......All the older Alfa's I have had with this engine in has made me smile but I cannot say that about any modern Alfa.......

I don't know about that, reason why I cannot sell mine is the performance (grin factor). She is only at 196 bhp, but keeps up with the GTA boys enough, and some of the cars we have taken on on 'private roads' has stunned me. It's one under estimated car that s why I love it so much. May have something due to the expensive suspension set up and getting the power on the road mind ;)

Seems good value, the Brera is a pretty car but front end weight has always been its problem. A bit of TLC and this could scrub up nicely to be an interesting daily driver.

This could be interesting, why is it Salvage?

Would it be easy to get the radio code as well as I imagine that it links in with the vehicle management as well?

Quite a few part ex vehicles go on there from dealers etc etc.

At work we just phone the local dealers to get the radio codes for the lorries :)

Some interesting cars on the website.

Especially as quite a few have little or no damage and are therefore not recorded.

I get paid to look through that site every week, supposed to be looking for wrongly listed damaged lorries...not Alfa's or massers hehe :lol2:

Andy, i agree. I had a 1.75TBi Giulietta for 18 months - looked great but had zero character and poor seating position. I don't hold out a lot of hope for the Giulia - 156, 166, 159 all were at least great looking Alfa saloons. To me the Giulia doesn't cut it in the style stakes...maybe it will grow on me !
