Hi lads, I've been a keen cyclist and have done London to Paris 3 times, the long way 400 miles in 4 days, but I was quite ill during the past 18 months and have become terrible unfit and overweight. 50 miles a day is generally very easy when I'm fit, so depending on the time of year then would be up for it.

What sort of average you thinking of?

If I can make the date(s), count me in. As it's an Italian car forum 'do' it'll be a great excuse to dust off the Colnago, which hasn't turned a wheel this year!

If possible (and suits the majority), the further towards summer the better for me as my lad's footy season should have finished by then.

Another Colnago owner:cool:, seems like Italian car owners can't resist Ernestos designs either, point is in a ride like this do I ride one of my steel Masters or one of my carbon C59's?

They all have different places in my heart?

It won't be a race, it will be a tour with a few laughs on the way.

My touring pace in a very undulating France was low:12 mph average over 40~80 miles with a high of 15.5 mph on the flatter bits, so by no means earth shattering.

It's all just for fun.

Yep, could be up for this. I have a couple of bikes that could be used. South Downs and Surrey hills are preferable... ;)

Well,
My preparation is going quite well, I am getting in 2/3 20+ mile rides in a week with a "recovery 10-15" on a Monday, which isn't too bad with the dark evenings, will start extending my weekend rides to 50/60 when I get back from India, presently doing all my training on a Hybrid so will be easier on the road bike (half the weight).

Any ideas when the event will be???
Where, route etc ??

Was speaking with a mate last night and you can cycle the circumference of the Isle of Wight, it's 67 miles but off-road bikes required.
