My 2011 GTS came with one key , I got an aftermarket replacement ( same electronics ) for it. However I am not near any dealer to get it sorted.
Would a lock smith be able to configure the transponder and remote ? If so, has any one done or is aware what method to use? Thanks

Wow. Can I ask where you got the aftermarket key? It seems, well, unlikely but interested to know.

Anyway, it needs to go to the dealer. You don't configure the transponder to the car, you configure the car to the transponder....

Take care if it’s an eBay aftermarket as the metal key part is weak and often snaps off in the ignition!

Got the key from USARemote on Amazon, it’s gonna be the spare key in case . I know local lock smith can program the transponder with replicating from original key without the car , but I would be keen to know if they can do the remote too or if there is an alternative to taking it to dealer ?

I'm going to suggest that a locksmith won't be able to do what you want since it's a rolling code. But do let us know as that is *very* cheap

I made just a simple key to open the door and turn on the car , and it was just done by cloning the original key. However I thought there might be a way for them to program the remote locking , but I shall see what they say and post an update here

Interesting indeed! How did you clone it?

There's a process to add new keys to the 4200 which *might* be worth a pop, but I can't see it working. You can put the 4200 alarm into prgram mode by locking and unlocking about 7 times in a row. That makes the dash light (GT doesn't have one) flash rapidly. Once that's done, you press the button on the new remote and 'voila'

I took it to a local lock Smith ( in different city I was ), they put the original key in a system which read the transponder data off it , then they used a compatible key ( without remote ) , and downloaded the key details .
Then I locked the car with original key, and tried the new key to physically unlock, alarm went off but as soon as the key was put in and turned on to MAR, alarm went off , car started fine

Well I’m in New Zealand , and used a company called Armstrong Lock Smith . I was told the system maserati uses is Fiat based. But don’t quote me on that as I don’t have valid evidence yet
