Hi,
Does anyone know if there is still a spare set of hand brake shoes going around as i need to reline mine due to delineation.
I need the 3200/early 4200 ones.

Many thanks.

Thanks Frank.
My big issue at the moment is i cant seem to get a socket on the two 19mm Caliper bolts because of a bar in front of them, its a real pain

Thanks frank,

I have looked at a number of threads but not that one, which is very good.
My problem is that i cant seem to get the caliper off :-(

Hi Nick, I used a spanner rather than a socket. I had a metal tube on the end of it also to get more leverage, or a rubber mallet can be used to give it a bit of a nudge.

Thanks for the Pm Miles.

I need to get down there and have another go, this time with a 19mm spanner, did you get a round ended one onto it with a good fit ?
I may need to go and buy a different angled spanner and as you say a means to get more leverage.

Hi Nick, Just a regular medium / large combination spanner. I used the open end as it's off and on the bolt all the time due to a limited angle of turn. You can get at the lower bolt from below and the upper bolt from above and in both instances you'll have about 90 degree's of turn before you foul something. I used a rubber headed mallet to get the top bolt loose and a short length of pipe on the spanner to get the bottom bolt to loosen. Once they're loose, remove them completely with your fingers as it'll be quicker. Keep hold of the caliper if it's still plumbed in as it's heavy and you don't want to stress the brake pipe. Once removed, you can rest it on the upper suspension arm which will keep it out of the way for removing the disk.

Thanks Miles,
That's great advice as I think i may have tried to do it from the wrong angle, I need to have another go and put a bit more effort into it.
I'll let you know how i get on.

Hi Newton, Nick just needs to make sure they are the right ones, am sure he'll get the info off the threads previously posted and get back to you, thanks!

Hi Newton,
My car is a 52 plate Spyder, So I am assuming that it is the earlier 3200 style shoes that I need, won't really be 100% until I get the **** things off :)

Nick, there are details about VIN/date cut offs to ensure you get the right ones, on that thread.

It was a real pain getting the pins out of the retaining spring clips and all 4 were destroyed removing them, but they should be simple to replace.
The shoes are at the relines now and the car is on axle stands until I get back from the states in 3 weeks time. Then hopefully it will be easier putting it all back together.

Yes, it's a right p1g of a job Nick, but good to hear you're making progress. I'd give yourself plenty of time to refit the shoes as the springs come off more easily than they go back on! :(
