Thought maybe after Haynes, go ten miles up the A303 to Hunters Lodge Inn, off the road on the left near Bourton... or go down to Sherbourne and head up the A30 and stop somewhere, the A30 is nicer than the A303 imho... any locals recommend a pub with a decent car park and good food etc.?

There's Solstice Park service stop alongside the A303 westbound carriageway just before Amesbury, a smaller one on the north side of Countess roundabout a mile or so west of that on the A303, and one or two more before Sparkford, so plenty of scope to gather a maelstrom of Maseratis.
