My sound system seems to have completely frozen, the Sport button now doesn't work, maybe its all related. There is now just a screen with the Maserati sign with a message saying 'please insert the upgrade CD' does anybody know if there is such a thing and where you get them from?

Has anybody else had this issue?

Switch off the battery for an hour then on again, may be just a tech electrical gremlin that a reboot will sort.

Leave the window down a bit and don't shut the boot....beleive me I have been there.

As Dicky says that should sort your problem, probably the cold weather I suspect.

I'll give this a try, but someone has suggested not to disconnect the battery as that will cause problems? Has anyone disconnected the battery to specifically fix this problem?

Cheers

Don't disconnect it, just switch it off. Like Matt says, leave the windows halfway and the boot open.

Cheers, but how do you 'switch off' the battery? As if you mean just switching off the engine, did that and didn't have any effect, although didn't try with window down and boot open ?

I've not looked in the battery compartment of a Granturismo for a few weeks. The 3200, 4200, QP all have a turn switch in the battery compartment at the side. The Granturismo battery is under the boot, pretty sure there will be a switch there somewhere. Someone who owns a Granturismo will hopefully be along soon to clarify; if not, I'll confirm tomorrow for you.
The window and the boot need to be open or you can break the windows when closing them with the windows up, and if you lock the boot then it's really difficult to get in with it switched off as there's no keyhole to open it manually.

Did it suddenly do this or were you driving at the time ? I had my hard disc crash on me last year and have only just managed to source a replacement radio / CD unit for a steel (£4,000 new !).
The hard disc crashed when I was loading the updated Sat Nav discs whilst driving (I know, silly thing to do) and obviously went over a bump whilst it was writing to the disc. Nothing I could do, nothing Maserati dealers could do (took it to 3 different ones).
My battery has a switch I think by the way - have a look in the boot and make sure you inform the NavTrak people (Cobra) if fitted ....... I didnt and they called informing me my battery had been disconnected within 30 seconds of it happening !

Hi Guys, What does the switch look like? cant see anything obvious?

Hi Mike,

I don't know with the GTS, but in the 4200 / GS it's a rotary switch as per the photo below. Maybe it's the same in the GTS?
