Maserati Granturismo Sport 4.7 MC
  • 2009
  • 58,500 miles
  • Grigio Alfieri with Nero leather/Alcantara and grey stitching (I have the full list of fitted options available if requested)
  • MOT’d Aug 23 (no advisories)
  • Serviced Aug 23 at Emblem Sportscars, including 2 new rear tyres (Pirelli P Zero), 4-wheel alignment
  • 36.35% clutch wear
  • Based in Bristol
This is a very mechanically sound, very well looked after car that you could use every day without having to worry about preserving a low mileage - not a spotless garage queen by any imagination, but it looks, sounds and drives fantastically.

I bought this car from Dicky Grace in March 2018, where it had just had a front end respray to address a few stone chips, and the wheels were fully refurbed. In the 7000 miles since it has picked up minor stone chips etc., and one minor car park dink in the left door. The 20” Neptune wheels are completely un-kerbed but the lacquer has started to lift a in a couple of corners, only noticeable when on your hands and knees cleaning them!

Before me it was owned by another forum member (Felonius Crud) for I think 6 years, so it is a quite well known car around these parts. He had the gearbox software updated to that of the Ferrari 599 GTO, and an X-Pipe fitted (but the original silencer will be included as well).

I've had it serviced for the last 5 years by renowned specialists Emblem Sportscars in Poole, who know the car pretty well now. It was with them for some work just last week and I can provide their inspection report and a video of their Maserati expert Myles reviewing the underside, and potential buyers are very welcome to chat to them about the car. Prior to that it has always had specialist (or, initially, main dealer) servicing. I have a file full of receipts and records.

I love the car but given I work from home or London, and have other cars and projects, I simply don’t use it enough these days to justify keeping it. Plus, after 5 years I’m ready for a change. Hence initially putting it up here to gauge interest from the forum, before I widen the net to other sales platforms.

Price-wise, really not sure - advice gratefully received!

[Full disclosure: the images below are a couple of years old (need to take some decent ones – if it ever stops raining!), I’ve since returned the stripes on the grill to black.]

Looks great. Good luck with the sale.

With regard to price, for people who own one already it will be a 25k car, for people that don’t who want to buy one it will be a 15k car!
(Obviously worth more than 15k!)

Dicky would be able to give you a price. At the moment there are still a number of GTs still for sale after a few months.

Lovely looking car, the market is definitely soft for the larger engine cars at the moment and they can sit for a while. I agree with @gb-gta, traders will offer you around 15k, private market will be anywhere north of that I saw one very similar in black 2008 with slightly lower mileage sell for 20k on eBay.

I’d be interested

I went to see an auto 11 plate, but it had high previous owners and needed a fair bit of cosmetic love like bumper and bonnet respray and alloy refurb. It only had 36k miles. It’s up for 24k but it’s been up for a long time.

I just need to jump in an mc shift and experience the automated manual!

Looks a lovely car. As said above I am sure Dicky would be able to price it accurately for you but as an early car with low miles I would stick up for about 27k and expect to get about 24k/25k maybe. Really hard as they’re such a big range for these early cars.

I hate giving 'valuations' so instead note that Richard had a similar one for sale in July, but 2 years younger and with 25k less miles. That was up at £29k, which I feel is worth c6k more than yours.

One of the best ways to gauge market price, is to write a good and fair advert and put it on ebay with a reserve. List it on a Thursday on a 10 day auction, so that it runs over two weekends and ends on sunday. It will get bid to market price! Unfortunately the market has moved down as these beautiful cars continue to depreciate, and the ones "sitting on the market for a period of time" are just not at market price.

Another way to guage market price is again ebay, but this time using an ebay search and this time specifically filter by "completed items, or sold items" to get a better feel for what GT's are selling for. In addition look at the price of other GT's on both ebay and autotrader, that will give you a preety decent feel for where market price is.

I would say that based on what I have seen sell/advertised that current market price is :
  • early private 4.2's are selling for £12 to 14k,
  • early private 4.7s are selling for £15k to £23k
later cars are more, and also dealers more too....but dont take my word for it, keep an eye on ebay and autotrader and you will see which cars sell quickly and what the achieved selling prices (ebay auctions etc) are.

Also keep in mind that depreciation will be higher between august and febuary, as demand will be lower. The average buyer is proabally a spring/summer buyer when demand is higher. That said the market is year round, and I once sold a 911 which had been on the market for 3 months on christmas day!

Thanks so much for the comments all. Seems like £20-23k is probably what the market thinks is about right - plenty on sale for more but I suspect they've been on sale for a while. Surprised they've gone that low - surely there can't be much more depreciating to do! Same could be said for other cars I suppose - sub £35k Audi R8s for example.

Oh well - didn't buy it as an investment, and have zero regrets! It's been a privilege to own and drive.

Looking for a quick sale so if anyone is interested, make me an offer. Otherwise I'm probably going to look at the auction website route.

Beautiful spec and car. The market is the worst ive seen! These cars are worth so much more than the market places them at currently.

My advice, find a way to keep it as you will be giving it away and Im sure you will regret it in a few years.
I've regretted selling quite a few cars over the years (Corrado VR6, E46 M3, Lotus Exige all stand out - and all of which are worth more now than when I sold them!). I'm sure it'll be the same this time, but ultimately until I win the lottery and build an underground 10-car garage and retire, I don't have the space to keep too many cars, nor the time to enjoy them!

Let me know if you want any more info. The difference between mine and an eBay special is that it's just been inspected by a highly respected specialist (who've known the car for 5 years) and any imperfections are completely transparent. And it's a known car: it's had just 2 fastidious owners in the last 11 years, both on this forum (and in between it was sold via Dicky Grace, who's not known for selling duffers!). It's not perfect, but you can be very confident in its condition, which for an older Maserati is very valuable and something that elevates it above many of the other GTs up for sale I suspect.

I've not driven an auto Granturismo so I also can't compare directly, but the MC shift certainly has plenty of drama!

Good luck with the sale. It’ll make someone very happy, at a price way below where it should be.
