Guys

As a salesman, and as the first flurries of snow hit my fellow Scots today, it reminded me that I bought a set of these last year before I sold the 4200:

Wheel sizes fitting are at the bottom of the link but fit 18's on a 4200. Seemingly the business and winners of the erm highly coveted What Car Snow Socks Award 2012!:love2:

Seriously, did a fair bit of research and these were reckoned to be the ones to get. Sold the car before I had a chance to use. Good for if you get caught out and about in the Masser when a snow shower hits.
On sale for anywhere from £45 to £60 on the web.

Unopened and yours for £25 delivered in the UK.

PM for any details.

Are these a viable alternative to winter tyres for those times when you get caught out? i cannot work out how you fit them around the full circumference of the tyre since part of it is contact with the ground, but then I have enjoyed a few coldies tonight :)

They are now actually in the boot of the BMW...hope I never have to use them!
But if I do, they look the business, high quality fabric.

how many miles will a set of these be good for? Are they difficult to install, I am thinking a set of these in the boot could be a useful investment.

According to the instructions, you just slip them over, move forward half a wheel rotation, and slip the remaining over.
There is no strap adjustment or tightening required, it is, just like putting on a pair of socks!

You can see the logic how they work, just think of laying out a fabric carpet in front of the wheels on top of the ice/snow, and you drive on the top!

That sounds easy enough Mike and obvious now that you point it out. Would these be a one or two use and throw away thing or could you realistically expect to get a few weeks out of a set?

I think it depends what you are driving on.
On snow, long life, on cleared road with grit, very short life.
