Liberty media pay £3.8bn for MotoGP. I think Dorna have done a cracking job of improving coverage of each and every race, the safety now is a lot better too, and the racing is as close as you're comfortablby going to get on too wheels. My instant hopes for improvement, take away a Spanish Race and add another US race.

Could be awesome, could be awful.

Well, I mean there have been some positives relative to their ownership of F1 but there are still some...issues.
I totally agree, no owner is perfect, they want financial reward for their investment.
Dorna have ceratinly delivered a better product,
  • moved from technological dead end 2-strokes to 4 stroke in all 3 classes,
  • worldwide feeder classess for kids around the world (Asia Cup/RedBull Rookies being two) ,
  • now having financial support for nationalities not represented knowing full well that they get a return from an upswing of viewship in that country,
  • support to the AMA (USA) after their demise in the form of MotoAmerica (this will be no doubt expanded massively under Liberty) , as we all miss the Americans (well Lawson, Schwantz and RAiney, that Mamola fella still hangs around!)
  • vastly improved safety, airbags in suits, smooth gravel traps, no road circuits, no dodgy promotors
  • standardised racing weekend
  • very close racing, if a manufacturer is new/weak they can have extra testing, if they are successful, testing is absolute minimum. Honda have concessions, Ducati have none
  • Moto E (boring!)
  • technology investment in camera angles, in helmet camers, in leather camers, gyroscopic camera, front/rear cameras, footpeg cameras! under the cowling camera facing the racer - i'm sure I've missed a few
  • informtive website detailing every racer at every track at every year.
  • fan engagement, You can be on the Track TV but sat at home watching the race! (yes I have done this!)
The bad
  • Too many Spanish racers (some are fast, some prevent other nationalities taking part)
  • Too many Spanish Tracks (4 - Spanish GP, Valencia GP, Catalunya GP, Aragon GP)
  • Spanish Moto3 Championship being called the Junior World Championship.

Which begs the question...how does Liberty put its stamp on this...?

I have to say the Come-and-go was always my favourite British bike but I do like the sound of a beefy triple. A late Intestate 3 in silver with the left hand gear change and Police spec silencers (not peashooters) would be the one I go for. Best I start the swear box up again!
Although I wouldn't have said it once I think I now prefer the look of a Commando too.
Mk3 Roadster in red with peashooters and the engine cases gleamiing through an overdose of Solvol.
Has anyone ever not trod on a tube of Solvol or run over it?

Of course we have, spent many an hour polishing ally mudguards and engine casings and I think the resulting cursing could rewrite a whole new kind of urban dictionary

The old Brits chroming was **** site thicker than Maserati 4200 grilles Loz. I know your not meant to use Solvol on chrome but one wipe with it and I could see the copper coming through, lol

Doesn't get much Cooler always wanted one when younger but had a Z650 and then my Z1000.View attachment 125376
Couple of mates had a K6 in that purple black tank. One mate kept his immaculate and bolt standard, the other ditched the four pipes straight away and put a Yoshimura 4-1 on. Tbf to him the standard pipes got ditched in most cases. Now everyone wants standard four pipes on their CB750 and Z1900

We love noise Phil!
In Newmarket there’s a road called Palace Street, narrow, tall buildings, wind the throttle open in first and shut off, sweet music. Now full of speed humps, all the fun has gone, lol

Absolutely induction and exhaust simple pleasures.
Bikes were a big part of my life and we've got great roads here but now most villages got speed humps and the priority to the right where people can just pull out on you I don't feel the attraction anymore feel safer in Classic Car :)IMG_20240412_133041_644.jpg

My biking days are over I’m afraid. The only thing I would entertain is a Fantic or Garelli sports moped for a bit of nostalgia. Had some great fun back in the day.
