What a man!

As well as being a world class rugby player and top coach, what he is doing to fund raise for research into MND for Rob Burrow is incredible. After running 7 marathons in 7 days last year rating £2.7m in the process, he has just run 101 miles from Leicester's ground to Headingley in 24 hours and is well on his way to raising another £1m.

I remember watching Rob and Leeds in their prime when they beat everyone and played some unbelievable rugby and what is happening to him (and Doddle Weir) now is too cruel.

Outstanding from the man. He and Rob Burrow have had me in floods of tears on a number of occasions over the last couple of years. The most emotional of these was when beating our age old rivals Wigan in the Play-Offs this season and both Wigan and Leeds fans joined together to sing ‘There’s only one Robbie Burrow’. Balling. He has to be knighted in the New Years Honours. I’ve always been a massive fan, he was the consummate professional, and a born winner, you have to be to run 101 miles in 24 hours. The way Rob and his family have battled MND is nothing short of heroic. I am a lifelong Rhinos fan and had the pleasure of being at Old Trafford to watch all the Grand Final victories.

These guys are the true Sportsmen/Hero's! They are passionate about everything and have true feelings. They get the sh!t kicked out of them on the pitch and carry on (for i'm guessing not a massive amount of money) unlike the contemporary footballers who get payed a king's ransom for rolling about on the floor in agony when someone flicks their ear from behind!!............I'll get off my soapbox now...

I was at the game where this pic was taken. It was supposed to be a testimonial for Jones-Buchanen but turned into a celebration for Rob. Leeds played Bradford and both sets of supporters were singing for him - again barely a dry eye.

I still think this is one of the best solo tries scored in either code. A game I was privileged to be at.

Kevin is now on another challenge running 7 ultramarathons in 7 days - a total of 275 miles from Murrayfield to Old Trafford in time for the World Cup final on Saturday. Again he’s raising money for MND amongst other charities.

The man is phenomenal (and mad) and deserves all the support he can get.

Link here if anyone feels inspired enough to donate.

Runs 44 miles from Murrayfield to Melrose and then does a 2 hour Q&A with the locals in the clubhouse. Superhuman. Was sad to see Doddie’s health and mobility has seriously deteriorated when he and his sons brought the match ball on on Sunday v NZ.

Looking forward to seeing Sir Kevin at Old Trafford for RLWC final this Saturday - having been to the bank to take out a bit of cash for the occasion.

This will also be the Maser’s last trip of the year

I’ll be at the the other code. Watching your lot and our lot. You’ll be a neutral supporting Samoa I suppose, can’t see it, but didn’t see Saturday coming at all. Went to Elland Rd Friday and the Aussies just know how to win.

You are correct, Dickie - Samoa for me, of course! Our eldest daughter went to Scotland vs AB last weekend, courtesy of Jack Dempsey (don’t ask! Lol).

Scotland were not allowed out afterwards, so she ended up partying with Doddie’s son - thoroughly charming, as you would expect.

Enjoy the AB’s at Twickers…
