Lovely stuff all round chaps. The blue QP is incredible Ewan. Suits it very well, I think because it's a GTS. I do like the silver too though, very classy. Just not sure about the driver...

I can put you straight on that, Athol - the driver is in no way classy.

Thanks Gents, it certainly won't be classy when I have the full decat system built on it! :D

Had a quick hunt through my shoe room. Lo and behold I uncovered the perfect pair of blue suede loafers to wear when driving the new blue suede interior GTS!

I don't get jealous other than when Ewan posts his latest acquisition, I need a special filter on the forum to exclude all images from Ewan.

As always another stunning car added to your collection.

In that case I probably shouldn't mention the other car that entered my garage this weekend!! Early, badly taken, pictures attached below:

There's never a dull moment in Ewan's garage - to quote Edmond Blackadder, like a privy door when the plague's in town

The green Ghibli is not actually mine. It belongs to a friend, the previous owner of the silver QP that I've just passed on to Phil. While I was at the NEC last week I collected the Ghibli so that I can take it to Emblem for servicing. I have to say it drove down to Dorset beautifully - far more comfortable than I was expecting. It's a lovely car to be hosting in my garage, even if it is just for a couple of weeks or so.

I think a photo of this fabled shoe room is in order...

It's nothing special - just a room full of shelves with shoes on them. Quite boring, truth be known.

As an aside, a friend of mine helps wealthy celebs subtly dispose of unwanted cloths/accessories/gifts etc (generally items given out after fashion shoots and parties, and anything "last season"). One of her clients in Chelsea has a winter clothing dressing room, summer clothing dressing room, shoe room, handbag room and personal panic room, all off their bedroom suite. Apparently the handbag room in particular is quite a sight to see.

I've just had a count up. I have 5 pairs of shoes, two pairs of boots, 5 pairs of trainers and 2 pairs of flip flops. Blimey never thought I'd ever own 14 sets of footwear!
Back in my mis-spent youth I had a pair of work shoes, a pair of going out shoes, a pair of trainers and two pairs of football boots.
That was it!

Which I thought was more than enough to be getting on with.

I definitely need to see a photo of this room full of shelves with shoes on!

Since the 50s my dad worked in the shoe industry his last job before he retired was at loake shoes until 1999

He was the foreman , he could work every machine and make a pair of welted shoes from scratch

During the 90s he'd buy any seconds in my size , the best thing about welted shoes is they can be repaired over and over

I have about 25 pairs all bought for £27.50

The downside is now I look at shoes I might like but can't bring myself to spend £200

It always amazes me when I see somebody wearing a £300 suit with £30 shoes, unfortunately it's a dying skill in the UK, when I was living in northants there were dozens of shoe factories now most are gone

Funnily enough, David Askew was in the shoe business too and it was during his frequent business trips to Italy that he started to bring Maseratis back with him before the car business took over from his shoe business

They can indeed. Loakes are my go to brand, but the uppers do wear (crease) a *lot* faster than (say) Barkers. Of course there's a difference in price. I have a pair of Barkers that I paid £250 for. They've been re-soled four times, so in fact they've cost near as **** it £650. But they still look just about brand new (5 years old, worn as often as I can as they are *so* comfortable). Problem is Barkers won't repair them any more :(
My Loakes, on the other hand, are worn less frequently, been resoled twice I recall, and the uppers look more battered. Just more creasing, I assume due to the lower quality of leather. These are the cheaper end of the Loakes range, though.
