Shock absorber/bilstein actuator

Had an error light up on the dash got it read and turns out its the front right shock. The actuator has a cracked plastic part where it mates with the cog on top of the shock and this cog has a bit missing. Just wondering if anyone has had this damage and if there is anyone that refurbishes these units?

Bill

There was a thread on here where someone had sent his shock absorbers to Bilstien for refurbishment, Tel Bilstien Suspensions, 01455 283407 £80-00 each providing they are servicable. The actuator gears and pin are now shown on the Eurospares web site as part number SAG355 at £25-00 each, not sure if this is the part you need but worth a call. They are the same part as used.the Ferrari 355 and 550. And yes they can be a problem one was replaced on my 3200 before I purchased it and the dealer charged the previous owner over £600 for the actuator.

Thanks Rex good find! Will buzz them Tuesday. There seem to be a few actuators on eBay for £300-400. Not cheap even second hand

My experience with Bilstein UK is not so good. They have had 4 shocks of my 3200 and they claim that they can't be overhauled because the chrome shafts are corroded and therefore, they won't properly seal. Bilstein Germany is refusing to machine new shafts so I'm stuck right now (have been for the past 9 months). Communication with Bilstein is very, very difficult. They are not responding to e-mails and they have made numerous promises over the phone while not delivering. Not so happy with the whole situation.
