Service Coupon Expired / fear of bricking dashboard

Evening everyone - I hope you're all keeping your heads above the water?

When I bought my GTS just over a year ago it came with a bricked dash. This was fixed for me by the guys at SportsItalia - all wonderful. Just had some work done on the car (rear disks, pads, handbrake shoes, handbrake cable sorted & recalibrated, new parking sensor, header tank for coolant and both drop links replaced). Picked the car up this evening from having the work done and a message popped up saying "Service Coupon Expired" and the Service Spanner in the central display. The date and time in the central display is incorrect.

When the dashboard was bricked it wouldn't display any date or time - just dashes. Now it shows January 4th and a time of around 2:00. So I'm assuming it's not bricked BUT I'm worried that if I now go and set the correct date and time I might cause major issues.

Any thoughts? OK to set the date and time and then arrange to get the service icon reset OR will I cause major trouble?

Thanks!

Sounds like they had the battery disconnected. If it were *me* I'd set the date and time correctly. If the service light is still on after that then I'd reset it. However if you're worried contact the guys at SI and see what they say. I can't imagine their de-bricking restores anything less than full functionality, though

Yeah as above, sound like the battery was off for too long.
It's probably reset to 2007 or something. Will be fine to reset your time and date in the usual settings on the stereo. Hopefully your service light will go off once done.
I think the brick issues come from resetting the service light BEFORE you change the date and time.

About bricked dashes, mine is bricked for a while (date/time). However before I was still able to remove the service coupon light. I tried several different tools and none work. My assumption is that older versions of said tools would work but that newer versions don't anymore. Does anyone have a trick?

If you have reset your service light BEFORE you reset the time and date, that will have bricked your dash.
I think recovering it is a more specialist operation than simply a scan tool.
