Service cost threads?

A dealer not too far away from Oxford!
I had both the lambda sensors and carbon canister done as car under Maserati extended warranty so no point giving any excuse not to cough up should I need it!
My experience with MM is they say they offer a price match but won't follow through on it.
I think with a little perseverance and negotiating the price can come down considerably.

Thanks Blu - I think I can guess :)

I getting service quotes now for my GT-S MC Shift. It's a 6th year service on mileage of 24k. A certain Maserati dealer is saying I need spark plugs doing? Surely not?

It's probably on the schedule, but it does seem a little OTT for 24k.

Handbook is clear on it and first dealer is wrong. 2nd dealer is correct.

6 year service is same as 2 year service FWIW.

Cool, thanks for confirming. It did sound OTT. Anyway, quotes are coming at £1-1.5k like everyone else.

Another Maserati dealer said they weren't due until the 12th year or 75,000 miles! Said they'd never changed the spark plugs on a GT.

Mine were changed with the variators because, frankly, why wouldn't you?

75k sounds far more reasonable, if not a little too much.

Car is booked in for 12th Sept (don't lastminute.com your service requirements, especially if you'll need a loaner).

I'll confirm pricing, dealer and other feedback once it's done.

Technically it should be a 4yr service but I'm not doing the lambda sensors and carbon canister - nuts that these are age related at 4yrs. I did have a lambda go on my old Aston, but that was 7yrs old at the time and it did not cause any long term grief or cause the car to stop...warning light on the dash and 100 quid to replace it.

OK, so to conclude this one from my perspective...

Very happy.

Went with Colchester Maserati. Service was absolutely top notch. Friendly, communicative, flexible, open/honest feedback etc. These sound like they should be a given, but so often across plenty of marques they aren't. Even the video update worked very well.

Loan car was a Ghibli, which was nice to try.

Car flew threw service (2yr) and MOT. Total cost for both was under 1k. I supplied my own oil - exact service spec from Opie Oils cost me £58 (for 12 litres in total). So the full service cost including an MOT was a smidge over 1k which I'm more than happy about.

Dealer 100% recommended.

Same for me. Went with Graypaul Nottingham. Good service.... love looking at the new and classic metal in their showroom. Just over £1k (didn't supply own oil). All good.

Glad I've seen this as closest one to me service is just comming up, car now three years old and a little over 15K on the clock. What do they do on the first serivce? although I did do the Mille Miglia race so may have a little more wear on mine. Can you PM me the URL for the oil so I can supply direct to them also thanks.

I don't have the service schedule to hand, but think it's in the handbooks. There's a full list (and the dealer gave me a tick sheet noting all the details for the various services).

Oil is Shell Ultra Helix 5w40 (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/search/go?w=shell+helix+ultra+5w40). Opie were the cheapest when I looked, but worth Googling to check competitors.

Note that the oil must be unopened (which is fair enough...and as it's brand new from Opie that's no issue).

So I bought the car September 2015 with 4K on the clock, car was registered new Aug 2013 - the car is now due a service, would this be a first or second one thats due? One MD telling me a first service Colchester @£1378 another one is telling me it's the second 2400 service. Can someone please confirm, I understand it's every two years or 12,000 miles, I have now done 12k miles in the last year so the car is at 16K now.

The additional items in the "4yr" one I mentioned are, I'm pretty sure, age related changes, not miles. So being quoted for a "2yr" service sounds correct to me.

The price you've been quoted is the std price for that service from that dealer. Most are within 20 quid of that mark - I believe Maserati control the prices (at least list ones!).

YHM.

Ok so Colchester have confirmed it is the £1378 one the 2400 one should not be due until 4 years or about 25K miles

At which point you just need to decide if lambdas and canister are really worth another £1k to Maserati's rainy day fund :)

Ok so service at Colchester I do not recomended. Despite supplying them with 12L of Oil they decided to give me a 1L top up bottle as part of the service and charge me for it, despite it not been needed. No video update for me as per Murph got despite I was told of my 5 hours labour time.....
