HI all,

I have a peculiar problem with the drivers seat.

all of sudden it does not go back all the way.
it stops at a middle position.

it is still ok to drive but I wonder why this is.

I cheked for the obvious things, like coins stuck in the mechanism etc. but couldn't find anything.

I also tried the recalibration (forward backwards forward backwards then move seat) which worked as in the re-calibration happened but it still wont go back all the way....

any ideas what else to try would be great!

thanks!!! bosse

I assume it has limit switches, maybe one stuck, or does it have an anti crush facility where it will stop if it feels resistance? Maybe just needs lubricated. I will go and have a look at mine.
I've just been out and checked mine. It does move fully back and forth smoothly, albeit slowly. It does not seem to have an anti crush facility either as it just keep moving even if you try and push against it.

yes I thought there might be a swich or something telling it to not bet backwards further... but I could not see anything...
also tried to push it a little but that did not work either...
it just stops half way back as of that's the end of the line...

it worked until about a week ago and now not anymore...
I will try lubricating the tracks see if that helps. but my feeling is telling me that it is something else electrical...

Try the following reset procedures.

Reset seat tilt memory

Open the driver's side door and QUICKLY (must all be completed within 5 seconds) click the fore/aft adjuster forward-backward-forward-backward (just click - you don't need to move the seat much at all), then release the seat back and tilt it all the way forward. The seat will then go through a calibration cycle sliding all the way forward and back twice.

Seat memory set
Adjust the seat to the desired position.
Turn on ignition but do not start the engine.
Tilt the seat forward.
With the seat still tilted forward, adjust the seat base as far forward as it will go.
Tilt the seat back.
The seat will then return to the desired position.
This reteaches the maximum movement of the seat to the memory.
This generally occurs when one of two things has happened. 1) the seat has been left in the tilt forward position for too long, or 2) the seat was in the tilt forward position when the ignition position was changed, either turned on or off.

I had a seat issue on my Spyder, the seat did much the same as yours but also used to move forward whilst driving!

It was where water had dripped onto the Memory buttons and fused one in the depressed position so it was constantly trying to move to positing one.

Worth a look, they pop out easy enough and if rust is present, swap them from a salvage car.

Bosse, when you did the reset per your original post, did the seat go all the way back then? If so it's unlikley to be a mechanical issue.

hi Catman - when I did the reset it did not go all the way back.... do you think its mechanical? they are electric seats without the memory function... thanks!!!

So it went part way back, then forward, then part way back again, then forward again?

That would certainly indicate there's something stopping it. I'd think mechanical, but....

Did you try battery reset and or the seat resets I posted?

He did the seat reset before he posted. Like he said first off:

"I also tried the recalibration (forward backwards forward backwards then move seat) which worked as in the re-calibration happened but it still wont go back all the way...."

Reset might be worth a punt though
