So, 6 weeks after whacking a kerb at speed, 2 new wheels, rear lower arm, front hub carrier, wheel hub, track rod end and a refurbished steering rack, I picked my car up from Giallo on Friday. Thanks to Matthew for peeling back the layers of damage and Mr Admiral, Sir for picking up the bill.

Friday evening involved a couple of hours with a clay bar and my extensive collection of microfiber cloths. Then on Saturday evening a trip to the local Esso for many litres of super unleaded and to deflate the tyres to 31psi all round. Then out into Kent to rag the **** out of the car until the light faded..

God I love this car. It really is plenty fast enough for the road - a devastating overtaking tool and you can at least hit the red line and let the next ratio thump home in a couple of gears before you get to crazy speeds. Not sure what the Corolla driver who was thrashing his car along a fast B road thought as I roared past at.. er.. 65mph, but at least he got to enjoy the noise. And it's very composed through the twisty bits, a decent set of upgraded pads and stainless steel hoses inspiring more confidence when it's time to slow down. And as well as the glorious noise, there are of course the looks. I won't bother to decibels those, here are some photos from a local beauty spot that I took on my phone before heading home:

Then it was time to head back, a nice quiet, relaxing journey, thanks to the fantastic seats, and the softer damper setting and muffled exhaust (temporarily switched back to sport every time I had to pull away at traffic lights of course). And finally, bed time.

Looking good and glad you have it back. I'm biased but love a Grigio Touring Gransport, shows off the curves of the car so much more than some other colours.

If Bianco Fuji is the perfect colour for the Californian sun, then Grigio Touring is the one for the UK - it looks good when there's not much sunshine.. and yes, it works well with the muscular curves, especially when photographed from a low angle. The only problem is that it shows up every little spec of dirt. Car needs cleaning constantly!

That explains it, I saw your car near Giallo on Thursday of last week. It must have been going for a wheel alignment.

Yes, wheel alignment was done on Thursday. You obviously saw it pre-cleaning, so wouldn't have been quite as shiny as it is now... I trust it was being driven with care.... :)

Glad to hear you are back out on the road.

I think I might have seen you on Saturday evening - did your journey out to Kent involve driving South on the A233 near Keston?

Yeah - I still haven't got the hang of recognising Maserati's far enough in advance to wave..although, to be fair "Bird Farm Bends" don't give you a lot of warning of what's coming towards you!

Lol I flashed yours coming from about half a mile off! You do get the hang of it and even now my kids shout "Hey Dad, A Maserati!" from half a mile away on the motorway.

Beautiful car. Saw 3 GTs on Saturday and being blue, yours really stood out.

Yeah - I just have to re-calibrate my systems, but it's the same old story, old hardware and software on the blink.

Thanks! I'm really pleased with the colour - Blu Sofisticato seems a lot darker in the metal than it seems in videos etc and really suits the car.

hmmmmmm - how come insurance picked up the bill? Hit kerb at speed avoiding another car at speed a few weeks ago. No huge damage but I was driving back form a full 4 wheel refurb. Now have two with a serrated edge. :ohh:
