Replacing Paddle Shifters - thoughts?

Good morning all!

I'm about to purchase a 2011 GTS (Yey!) and want to replace the smaller paddles, with new larger carbon ones.
Question:
Has anyone ever done this - without removing the steering wheel?
How did you find the process?

Thank you for any help / tips!

I imagine the time and effort trying to remove and refit screws and trying not to lose them far exceeds taking the wheel off.

As I understand it is possible but very fiddly to expose the two screws that connect the paddles to the steering column. You have to turn the steering wheel full lock either side and use the correct screw heads. I’m guessing it’s a case of having the right tools. Apparently one side is harder than another. You may end up damaging or scuffing some parts.

There are however quite a few YouTube videos on how to correctly remove and refit the steering wheel which would be a more elegant way to do it.

Here’s one example…

AV just fitted the Stindig Alu paddles to mine without removing the wheel. Full lock and there’s is access.. just.

Its probably easier removing it but can be done with the wheel in place. Short / ball ended hex keys are recommended.

And do it!

@Zep I'll remind you that while my hands have significant span, they are actually quite slender, so thankyouverymuch! ;)

REPLACING PADDLE SHIFTERS - THOUGHTS?

On the one hand it's a positive action...........

on the other , there's always a down........
As long as it’s not plastic… that’s my conclusion - long live Stindig!
