I've seen various posts on this and thought I would share my recent experience with Graypaul Maserati in Birmingham (Solihull).

Graypaul Maserati
Cranbrook Way
Solihull
B90 4GT
Tel: 0121 701 2450

My car had only one key and no code card so I contacted their parts department (Adam Burdett) who was very helpful. I emailed him my proof of ownership and he sent me a quote:

2 Button Blue key - £233 + VAT
Maserati code card - £35 + VAT
Total (inc VAT) £321.60

Once I paid, it took about a week and a half for them to get the key in and then I booked the car in to have the new key coded.

They did that while I waited (coffee provided) and charged £72.50 plus VAT (£87.00) for the coding.

Whilst not cheap, I thought the price was not 'outrageous' and the service was efficient and friendly.

Greypaul in Solihull are my 'local' MD and I have nothing but praise for them. Right from the day I walked into their showroom (having stormed out of the Porsche dealer opposite after receiving repeated sh!tty service) to just have a look around. I was treated with respect and courtesy and given time to nosy about......and then took out a blue GT for a test drive (actually my wife did as I didn't have my licence on me).

4 hours later (after returning with my driving licence) I had bought it!

And every interaction since has been good (albeit reassuringly expensive!)

I'd love to go into a posh car showroom and have the sales chap turn his nose up at me (cos no matter how nicely I dress I still look like a tramp) and say 'are you sure you can afford any of these?' and say 'yes I can but you can fuuck off, you fuucking snob....'

Probably leave a shít as well on the most expensive cars' driving seat too if I could coax one out.

I'm in a right mood today ah tell thi'......

I've only ever been into a proper dealer car showroom once in my life. We bought a Toyota Celica. I'd love to walk into the local Lambo/Aston/Bently dealer to have a mosy but I'm sure that they'd recognise me as the chap that leaves greasy nose smears on their show room glass and show me the door!

I did exactly that when I bought my first Jaguar XJ - it felt good and ah simply bought the exact car I was looking at from another of the franchise, but took delivery from the original showroom - I got the last laugh

Out of interest- whats the identifier for the key code card...?
I am doing this finally. I rarely lose keys but its bound to happen if I persist with only one. I paid the same £233 for a key from Maserati but have the code card. At least, I believe it is the right card; it came with my car. But how do you know actually...?

That's pretty decent. Back in 2015 I was quoted £800 for a replacement key fob for my wife's old 2012 VW scirocco by the main dealer in Guildford

Ha, I did the same with a Landrover dealership in Ascot - the guy I had bought two RR Sport's from over the years had left and his new replacement was bordering on bloody rude when I walked into the showroom - if I remember correctly he suggested I might not be able to afford it. Well, Mr Salesman, I went to another dealer and he sold me a very nice new one with all the bells and whistles, thank you!

I had the same feeling as I never lose keys but there's always a first time!
I've no idea about the key code card identifier but I suppose there's a good chance it's for your car if it came with it?

Hi,

So does your car just have the single code card? Did you not need the alarm fob code card?
I recently got the grey code card (electronic & Mechanical codes) from HR Owen for the 3200.

There are two cards: One has the mechanical key details on it (i.e. the troughs and peaks) The other has a PIN type code for emergency starting. You use the LED on the alarm to count the right number of flashes and then press the throttle. This allows you to bypass the immobiliser. In theory.

From memory the first is grey card, the second is moulded plastic.

Reminds me when I went with my Dad to the local new Lotus showroom newly opened. Lotus had just released a facelift Excel, my Dad had a 2 year old Excel and was considering changing.
Entered the showroom and all the cars where locked, and the salesmen couldn't find the keys...
My Dad turned around to me and throwed me his car keys "bring my car around and pick me up son"
Off I went around the corner and drove the Excel to the front of the showroom (I would have been 18), my Dad replied to the salesmen "sorry you can't help me" and we sped off, never to return to that dealership again!

You'll be pleased to know that the Ascot JLR dealership has now closed and is now looking very empty - it literally vanished overnight a couple of months ago!

I'll have you know Lancaster's do a fine line in looking down their snooty noses at me even though they still ring me a twice a year to buy one of their Ghibli or Quattoporte. They really must like working on my old boat.

I walked past that only yesterday and wondered where on earth it had gone! Worst experience there a few years ago and we ended up walking out and purchasing elsewhere.
