A big one apparantly. Marios at Autoshield has texted me some photos of what is left of my P&J dash.
I have told Russels that I hope he can remember how to put it back together.....with no rattles. No pressure then !

That's a lot of work just to change the piping from black to red!
I would change the heater matrix while it's apart...

Eh i think not Ian , if there recent photo's, gees all for red piping ( any chance of letting us know what the bill is , just for the piping swap over

Thinking about it , i would have been inclined to have tried to mask the dash and the seats and tried some leather dye/paint first, using
plastic lolly pop sticks and a bit of carefull manipulation and dexterity one get could get pretty **** close to the dash/seat leater to mask it succsessfully, was worth a try other wise you could always get it changed , food for thought tho

I agree, but once it's in your mind that the black piping isn't right it will irk you every time you drive it. If it's a keeper, I reckon it will be worth it in the long run. I would probably change the techno cloth for leather while it was apart as well.

Will do Loz, i did not realise so much work work would be involved. Autoshields coachtrimmer considered the leather dye / paint option but was not happy the results would look acceptable.

In fairness he warned me it might be a little bit more involved!

A picture! Russell was mortified, which is a good thing!
Russell loves it !!

Ian, i considered changing the technical cloth to leather but for one i don't have heated seats and don't fancy a cold bum in winter, and secondly you would have to replace the headlining as well which i did not fancy. Thirdly i prefer tech cloth. Leather is sooooooo common !!!

Top marks for doing it properly James. You've got to look at it every time you're in the car, so knowing you did the replacement will pay you back in the satisfaction of knowing it's a job well done. Hope to see photo's on completion. Oh, do you want the Seatta badges by the way? PM me your address if yes and I'll get them in the post to you.

Thanks for your words of encouragement guys.
TBH if I had appreciated the amount of work involved in stripping the dash I would have thought twice about going Ahead with this.
Six months ago I was toying with the idea of swoppingthe GS for an early GT but after a couple of chats with dicky grace and Marios at Autoshield I have decided my GS is going to be a keeper. Better residuals, exclusvity, lighter, more driver focused all reasons for my decision to keep the GS.
Marios's coach trimmer and a local one to me both had serious reservations about dying the existing piping, so replacing is the only option for me.
Only problem is going to be hiding the bill from VICKY!
