There are too many memories with Rob to list them all. Hodroyd Buckaroo in Fuente De (see above) the anrgry Spanish spaniel. Carrying him to his room in Clermont Ferand. His memorable words to my Mum at my birthday party (actually, I’ll try to forget those).

He never missed a chance to have a great time, whether it be with a lamp, a fire extinguisher or a pot plant. A lesson to us all.

Can't believe it's 8 years since I first met Rob, at Rob HQ!
An evening and night to remember.
Whatever happened to Robs iphone charger?
DSC_0338.JPG

I'll miss his, err, un PC Facebook rants for sure!
But alas one of his last messages on Facebook a few weeks ago:

With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, nothing is more painful than trying to smile and remain positive, but after many tests, being poked and prodded, chemo with more to come with a round of radiation/chemo, surgery then more chemo. A person physically changes and they can suffer with sadness. I know many of you do not give a **** about this message because, cancer has not affected you. You do not know what it's like to fight each day, or have a loved one who leads or has lead a battle against cancer.
I ask you a small favor- I know only some of you will do it. If you know someone who has led a battle against cancer, still struggling, or who passed, please make this your status to support, respect, and remember. ❤️
** I have faith that many of my friends and family will copy and paste to their newsfeed. Just wanted to say, I despise CANCER!!!
I'm going to make a bet, that out of my family & friends, less than 10 will take the time to put this on their page.

RIP Rob :(

Sadly, I’ve been touched by the blight of cancer on a few occasions. I lost both Grandads, my Dad, my son, several people I flew with, and Several of Ryan’s teenage friends. Every passing is like another dagger in my back, and I’m absolutely, totally, completely p!ssed off by this f**king awful disease, and that’s why we keep raising funds to try and find a cure for the bs5tard. RIP.

What can i say about Rob that hasnt already been said.

Always willing to help others and a friend i will miss. At times he made Alf Garnet look liberal. PC was an electrical device he bought from Currys no other meaning of the abreviation for Rob.

Over the last 8 years that i have known Rob he has always lived his life to the full. Creating mayhem and mirth in equal measures. He certainly made a lasting impression when he attended my wedding. I have shared many a beer with Rob over the last 8 years either at my place, Robs place and Le Mans and various Yorkshire bars. Everyone a pleasurable and memorable occasion.

A h3ll raiser to the end and im sure he will be looking down from a bar at the Great Le Mans trip in the sky.

He shared with me a couple of photos from his early h3ll raising days so i will share here in his memory.

It's been a while since I've been on here. Sad to read all of the nice memories of a truly great bloke.

Truly sorry to hear how tough things were towards the end and to read a message like that from such a **** raiser, but a dose of reality for all of us, I am sure.

I can't recall when I first met Rob, but he treated me like he known me for years, and I think we immediately got on when I didn't flinch but laughed at his cracking sense of humour. Many a fun time at a Christmas party followed, he was an absolute legend and up for anything that equalled FUN on a night out.

In Modena, my wife and I enjoyed a lift to the 'Pavarotti' restaurant in the back of his Gransport.
It's the closest I've ever been, to being drive by Colin McRae. I knew i was encouraging him, when I mentioned I was looking to see what his car could do.
He had his then other half barking the instructions "Left Turn coming up," "How many metres" he shouted back, eyes glued to the road, "500, 300, coming up now". ******* the brakes, downshift, back passengers flung to one side of the car, then flung to the other, foot down again, engine singing, he laughed as did I.
I can't really remember the end of that night when back in the Modena hotel, I think on that occasion I ended up asleep in a chair first, I certainly was not part of any statues moving around, official signs being removed and re-written...

Rob was a guy who always wanted to have fun, and wanted you to have fun, and brought fun in spades wherever he went. He was one of the originals here, helped make it what it is and a genuinely top bloke. He will be missed.

Alas me too a sister at the age of 7 and most of my grandparents. It’s a ****** disease that has no discrimination of age, sex or religion.

We all try to do our bit, raise funds etc but cancer still reigns.

One day we will get you, you horrible blight on society and will have the last laugh, that you can be assured of!

I never met Rob but have heard many stories of his antics, a number of which have been shared here, he was clearly a real character and had many friends. I am sure I would have enjoyed meeting him, my condolences to his friends and of course his family - RIP

As for cancer, lots of stories have been here over the years on how it has blighted so many lives and continues to do so. If we are a position to do so, we should support the many charities dedicated to finding treatments and cures.

But also we should all take the threat seriously, in the same way as we take preventative steps to keep our car in tip top condition, we should be proactive looking after ourselves. In the most part, detecting cancer early will lead to better outcomes.

So when the Dr offers the various tests as we reach a certain age, don’t put it off get checked out.
If you have a symptom of some description , don’t delay, get checked out and when the advice is feel for new lumps or bumps make it part of your routine.

I for one will use this sad news to get of my backside and have an itchy mole checked out.

Was very sad to hear the news about Rob yesterday.

I will also miss the silly and sometimes inappropriate WhatsApp messages and the occasional banter with him that sometimes resulted.

My great memory of Rob will be staying up with him ALL night in the hotel in Modena on the Centenary Trip. When the barman closed last orders he basically told the barman he would buy what was left of the topshelf, Rob, myself and a couple of others carried on drinking until eventually only Rob and I were left and we carried on talking (probably total ******** by that point) until the sun came up and we were still finishing our drinks when people, including some of our group, started coming down for breakfast.

RIP Robert it was a pleasure knowing you.
so shocked to hear the sad news.

For me, one of the great moments was on a SM euro trip following him to Italy from France, had about 5 Mas following his sat-nav into old small housing area. People watching as 5x Mas pull up and turn around.

The fact that most of us knew we were going the wrong way but still followed Rob and his sat-nav. I'm not sure if that sat-nav ever made it back home or if its sitting on the French motorway somewhere.

It was first time I meet Rob and his beautiful blue GS, such a great character, great laugh and so friendly. I got to know a lot of the member through Rob during that trip.

RIP, you will be missed.
For context, the end of Robin's story and the start of Enzo's was about 90 mins apart. I told him how to get to Pisa; turn left out of the hotel, 1st roundabout turn 1st right and follow that road 180 miles to Pisa. He turned right out of the hotel, and 20 mins later we came back through the hotel car park, much to the surprise of everyone we had already said goodbye to. You didn't follow Rob to get somewhere, you followed him out of curiosity and the liklihood of seeing places never before seen by tourists.

Oh man, have to say I never joined the dots he was Lord K, I didn't know him as well as you guys, but as a friend had great banter with him on FB, from Maserati's to racehorses to him ripping the **** out of my cars, I will miss him just for that, rest in peace Robert. Gutted.

Sad news indeed.

I was lucky enough to be a part of many Hodroyd adventures. From the evening discussing camembert cheese, to the vistors to Wayne's, to the Fench ditch, to the guy that opened his club for us, to the infamous birthday party and many more beyond.

We should all learn from his lust for life, even in the face of adversity. But we should not learn from his driving ability.

Gone but not forgotten.

Ah what a shame.
So sad to check in and see this today.
3 Abiding memories.
1. North east trip to Whitby : we all paid cash and Lord R took charge and paid on his card. Never did ask him about the tip.
2. 1st Le Mans, ditchmaster general. Effing frog was on the wrong side of the road. Er…was he tho.
3. Weekend at Hodroyd hall. At breakfast I remarked the sausages were quite good. Should be one of my deer is in them.
Great host, great fun, a lot close to the bone a lot of the time but hey ho.
RIP Rob.

Hi all, I have the details of Rob’s funeral, at the request of the family, these are not being made public. Early November near Doncaster, can you please PM me for details, I will happily forward them to you.

The family plan on driving his GS there and would like as many Maseratis to attend as possible with a traditional ‘rev off’

Who else has a Suite at Wayne's Gite named after him?

I first met him on the way down to Modena back in 2014 as his beautiful blue GS came thundering past us blindly over taking a long row of cars. Years later I later found out that he'd just recovered from his first bout of cancer and it explained his unapologetic and hedonistic mood. I thought that was just the Yorkshireman in him. Especially when he went on the Spanish tour...

He'll be missed but I'll stay off tinder, make sure my tyres have tread and french soft cheese is now unpalatable.

Rob, I never knew you but I salute you.
For my part, I spent 15 years on lowish pay, working on software to fight cancer rather than software for merchant banks.
Its not for everyone, but a conscious choice I made.
Nasty stuff isn't it Rob? We all fight against cancer how we can.
