I would like to give a big thumbs up to Bill McGrath Maserati, always helpful, polite and knowledgeable, they use all the genuine parts/fluids and keep you informed if anything crops up.
Will be back with them for cambelt & Chains

Thanks for that Dave. Useful to know.

Was there any particular reason that you went for the 912's over the 452's?

Let me give you my impressions with Greek Maserati services: There are three stations where you can fix your baby, i have been knowing the two. The third doesn't seem to be reliable. The first is the official dealer, he is far too expensive, he charges 3200 euros for a clutch change and 2000 for an F1 pump change. Besides, he is the one that destroyed my right catalyst:I asked him to isntall the Larini X pipe, he did not bring the cats down to install them, but pushed the X pipe by hitting it with a hammer(!!!!).This way the ceramic cat got broken. He refused to pay for his fault, and i called my lawyer.
The second one is a good guy, he knows the 3200/4200 very well, but he has high prices for a non official dealer, and is too far from me. Therefore, i think i'll go to Italy for my next service...!

+1 on this. So far, they've looked after my GS from the PPI onwards. They've done quite a bit for me and the guys there are always approchable and crucially wont spend your money if they dont need to! I'd recommend them.

Probably not a bad idea Nikos , thats what Parisian does ,he comes over from ireland to Marios at Autoshield and intergrates it with a short break holliday , Greece probably has (im speculating here) a very small number of Ferrari/Maserati Cars per capita head and hence a small number of dealers , the set up costs are huge compared to other marques and they have to be recovered , we are quite fortunate here in the UK , Petrolheadism is virtually part of the school curriculum and hence we are a mad high performance car nation , which the green party are doing their utmost to exterminate , hence at present we are blessed with an abundance of reasonably priced main and indie dealers ... long may it reign

Hi Nikos,

Pity the servicing plus cost aren't as you'd like and a lack of indie coverage. Certainly put an advert on the Italian forums for a recommended indie and then take the ferry across the Adriatic if practicable.

Having said that might be cheaper to fly out one of the indie mechanics for the weekend to Greece with suitcase of bits and SD2 kit, hire a workshop and let him spend a day on her!

I would say thats doable , but I do come up with the odd hair brained idea don't I Matt, Loz and the guys??!!

Parisien, many thanks for the link, it's not in English, or German, but there's an "international" section, so i'll drop a line. This will help me, cause hiring a mechanic with an sd2 in the bag, could save me, without needing to travel. On the other side, a trip to Italy is always attractive...
As for what Loz's said, there used to be expensive cars per capita head BUT, the services were/are too expensive. I don't have to repeat the usual behaviour of most Greeks (work less, gain/steal much...). Here, Ferrari and Maserati are two seperate companies/ services, because the Maserati agent here, is a close friend of Mr.#2 or #3 of Fiat Group. Therefore, the Maser agency belongs to him, and no official workshop may open without his permission... This is why there is no official fan club, despite the fact that there are thousands of ghiblis, quattroportes and 3200/4200.
I wish i could say the same "Petrolheadism is virtually part of the school curriculum", but i cann't...

Cartels.......especially in the private sector are not very helpful, competition is the only way, otherwise it invariably ends up as a ripoff scenario.

Let us know what happens and maybe spread the word but printing off a few flyers to stick on Maserati windscreens telling them of sportsmaserati!!!

Use this for translating all your messages and replies....might not get much back from the international section!

Never mind Nikos, we all have our hang up's. I think an engineer with his kit and spares is a brilliant idea, labour time say total 2 days, spares and return flights. If you can find him somewhere cheap to stay, you will keep the costs really low and get your pride and joy serviced correctly at a fraction of the normal cost. You will also get your service booked stamped.

For those living near the New Forest area, can I recommend:

http://www.fioranosportscars.co.uk/

The guy that runs it was a mechanic for a very well known main dealer for many years and has gone it alone. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in both Maserati and Ferrari. He's between Beaulieu and Hythe at a place called Hardley.

He serviced my car and inspected it before my purchase and has dealt with a warranty issue smoothly and professionally. He also has patiently and courteously helped me out on the phone over a couple of my concerns due to my ignorance.

Very recomended

Although a newbie, i took alot of advice from you guys regarding type of car problems etc that i may come across or that should have been done etc etc....I listened and took that advice, trying to choose a car that had all the relevant work undertaken, right history, getting it checked etc....i have been dealing with Matthew and his staff at Giallo...and although a few members are not that keen, many are...i would like to join the ranks of the later group...i believe he is as genuine as he can be...these vehicles are not always straight forward...they have their own perculiarities...and can be expensive...he has been honest thus far and hopefully this will continue. I would recommend Giallo, the Maserati world is a small one and in one way or another some dealers/garages will have dealings/affiliations with each other from time to time. We all just want our babies to be lovely all of the time and not cost alot...i hope this can be the situation in my case and that Giallo Cars continue their great service to me. Thanks to all there.

Guys

Just got my car back after a thorough detail and the difference is fantastic.

Car just looks so much fresher inside and out inc the engine bay after Matt at D2Detail worked his magic.
Just need to get the alloys refurbed now to go with the rest of the car!

Matt's website:
http://www.d2detail.com/

He works out of Shiltech here in Loughborough.
Highly recommended if you fancy giving your pride and joy a spruce up before the sunny days ahead.

Will try and get some photos up next week.

Cheers

I can unreservedly second Dave's comments. Matt has done various things for me, including getting my 4200 ready for sale. It looked perfect. He's also a mine of information and quite happy to advise on any aspects of car care - paint characteristics, how to refresh the rubbers and plastics, how to care for the leather, etc, etc. Top bloke with an impressively dodgy taste in hats. :D
