Recommend me a village for pubs and walks, not too far from London

I'm looking for a nice old village, not too far from London (preferably North), with a few FLAT walks, and some nice pubs.

If we can get there by train from London, even better.

Any thoughts?

The royal British standard Beaconsfield I've been back there a couple of times. Good pub food and places to walk... Not that I do that bit

Goring is very pleasant, nice amble along the Thames and plenty of pubs too.
