Rear LED failure

Good evening, just thought i would share this information/good news with you,my 3200 had a few LED'S go out on the O/S,resulting in the annoying bulb failure light to be put on,on the dashboard,
After some considerable time seperating the rear light lens from the body we at work were able to match up the LED'S and associated resistors/transistors,and source at a very reasonable price, these were finally soldered in today after checking the circuit board, and i can now confirm all again is in full working order at a fraction of the cost of a new rear light,

Also in renewing the failed resistors that had failed in the lower part of the light has also cured my rather fast flashing indicators on the O/S though there were no LED's failed on this part,

Well done Deano....going to do blow by blow write up, in the techie section, am sure its something we'd all be interested in.

yes i will do soon, though it was a little nerve racking trying to remove the lense without the risk of breaking it,though patience prevailed

...this is the sort of info, guidance the rest of us need.....sometimes its what not to do...... which might result in a a hefty lense invoice!

Excellent result, great when there's a resilient owner who finds an inexpensive fix.

I seem to remember somebody looking into replacing the LEDs quite a while back but not really getting anywhere.

In the world were recycle, recycle, recycle is drummed into us, Deano is doing his bit to reduce our carbon foot print.

(never thought I would ever hear, Maserati, reduce and Carbon Footprint in the same sentence!)

Deano, thanks for this. I have a boomerang light unit with 2 failing leds which I took to a friend of mine (because he is much more knowledgeable with electronics than I am) and the last thing I heard was that he managed to separate the lens from the body but that he was struggling to find the correct replacement leds (and transistors/resistiors, I guess). Would you be willing to share this info + perhaps where it can be sourced, so that he can order the correct parts?

Thanks a lot! Would you happen to have the part numbers for the resistors/transistors as well?
