Rain sensor

Hi all,

Hope some can help with this.

I didn't realise when I bought my car that it had a rain sensor. When ever it rains, and I'm not in the car, but in he house, the alarm goes off to let me know that I'll need a coat if I was thinking of venturing out the house. It's also kind enough to let my neighbour know as well, regardless of the time of day, or night.

Is there a sensitivity adjustment that anyone is aware of that I can tackle with a screwdriver, before my neighbour tackles me with a screwdriver (when I forget to hold my finger on the key remote for 3 secs to arm the alarm without the interior sensors / rain sensor) ??

Help appreciated

Sorry, System Diognostic 3, which only main dealers and a few specialists hold. Its specific to Ferrari and Maserati as OBD's will only do basic stuff.

I'm sorry, but am I reading this right? the face-lift has a rain sensor? or are you taking about the cabin alarm sensors?

Hi TMH,

Just a perhaps (perhaps not) related question, but what are your window dip functions like? Do your windows close nice and crisply up to their fully closed position? I ask as I had this problem and it was the drivers side window not fully closing and rain getting into the cabin.

They do seem to close correctly, and the seal seems to be good as I've not noticed any moisture getting in. I'll check, as a small drip would be enough, I guess

Just thought I'd ask, but from what you're saying, it sounds unlikely that it's the windows then,.. so yes the alarm / cabin sensor may be set to "breath on me and I'll scream"

I know how it feels. I have an aversion to rain too.

SD3 sounds like the route to take. (might ask them to plug me in too)

Well we might. Not sure my neighbour does though, especially as it went off at just after 3am this morning!
I'd armed it with the 'hold button for 3 seconds' method too, so am at a loss now. It was the lightest drizzle, but the wind was very gusty, so maybe it's the motion sensor .... or both

?

Mine does the same, thought when I hold and get the extra bleep on locking, its usually OK. I was told it could be a knackered battery so replaced mine (wasnt even 4 years old) and it continued. I've since been told that, as mentioned above, the sensitivity needs adjusting on the SD3.

I've been told Miles at Emblem is the man to ask.

Been then and had this, its an easy fix.

The vibration from the rain trips the A post Alarm sensors.

What you have to do (and a main dealer told me to do this) is remove the A post interior trim on both sides (the panel that goes up the side of the windscreen, on the inside with the little vents in them).

You have to remove the curtain trim first (between the top of the door and the headliner) it just clips off. this reveals a screw at the top of the A post which you undo then pop the covers off.

You then locate the multi connector on each side and disconnect them, remembering to cable tie them neatly otherwise they will rattle right by your ear.

Here is a guide which shows you how to remove the trim panels (and dash top):

Then thats it, you will never have to get out of bed in the rain again so the curtain twitching of your neighbours!

Job time: 30 mins.

Said this many times Woody , many techs at the dealers dont fully know the full capabilities of the sd2/3 , Myles at Emblem is one of the top guys when it comes to diagnostics , more so on the cc gearbox set up etc

Interesting Loz. That tip came from someone I consider to be in the know too!

Matt, would that then not wipe out the sensors totally? I wouldnt mind fixing mine, but not at the expense of not having sensors at all.
