Rain Sensor Random Intermittent Wipers - is there a fix?

Numerous people have mentioned how infuriating the randomness of the automatic sensor wipers can be.

Is there any robust fix for this?

On my X-type Jag, there was an 'intermittent' position with the stalk, and then a very similar 'wheel' to set the frequency of the intermittent-ness. Could there be some way to use the existing controls (on a QP-V) to drive a retro-fit 'manual intermittent' system, bypassing the 'random sensor' system?

If yo find out, let me know! I'd be happy with a manual, single frequency intermittent!

I've learnt to accept the randomness of my QP's rain sensor function as part of its Italian charm. Some days it works like a dream other days I just switch it onto 'constant' and forget about trying to get it to work.

Assuming it's as bad as the GranTurismo then it must be useless. How this was signed off together with the really bad BT is beyond me.

PS The cruise control is badly designed too. Just grateful for the engine and the shape of the car, make up for the 'averageness' elsewhere.

According to the manual, each time the car is started you need to set the wipers to 'off' and then back to "automatic' (or whatever) it's called or they just won't work in automatic mode. It can be a storm so impressive that it has a name and they still won't work!

I turn mine off anyway. They still don't work

Oh, is it an Alfa 159 part, the auto wipers on that are horrendous!

I did read that on the Alfa, if you cut one of the wires from the rain sensor, it reverts to a manual intermittent wipe - the 159 has a scroll gauge which gives differing speeds apparently, but didn't want to risk that!
