What do the likes of Emblem, Autoshield, McGrath etc recommend? Follow their advice and at least, come resale time, your money will have been wisely spent/invested.

Dicky Grace got me a new one after the first 'second hand lightly used' from a breakers (cant remember who but seen them on here) sent me a radiator that looked like it had seen a trip to the moon.
Sadly the next one from Dicky Grace was dented - arrived in a plastic bag! - all credit to him, it was swapped no problem, third one was in a wooden tea chest.

Not a difficult task to change over just time consuming - I sprayed the mesh grille on the air intake silver at the same time - it has to come off to replace the rad

I honestly have never sold a radiator, think you've mixed me up with someone else, possibly David Askew??

Interesting - I have a friend who runs a company making aluminium rads, intercoolers, ERG valve replacements etc. If anyone has a radiator lying around I could take it to him, I could get a cost for an ally one, maybe a group buy if they are a common failure? Do the 4200 and GranSport use the same one?

I have my old one and I'm in Wales in two weeks time, happy to deliver if I'm passing: would love to look at an improved performance rad, the problem I encountered is that the bottom large hose union is in the wrong place and the hose has to perform an impossible bend and rubs on the adjacent chassis part. Maseratis cure is to put a protective mesh over the hose! The other issue is the debris build up caused by the cowling.

I'd be interested in suggestions too. I've got a very very small hole in my rad, have had for some time. It barely looses water but it one of them things that needs to get sorted. At £600 I decided I'll carry checking it and filling it up (every few months, no more).

I have exactly the same with the radiator in my AC: a very, very tiny hole. If there will be a group buy for bespoke aluminium, I would be very interested!

As each other, yes, but it's 'only' £235

I am getting a quote for recore from Aaron radiators. Will post details when I have them.
Anyone got the dimensions for the 3200 unit?
Mine is on the floor at home, where I am in the office at work.

(btw is the 4200 really the same AND cheaper?)

I got a lightly used one which i think i was lucky with as it looked more or less brand new, still had the labels on and i think had just been fitted when the car hit a tree. I would agree it can be a dodgey business getting second hand parts but given they fail a lot they also get replaced a lot so that works both ways!

If it's any help, I know a place in Tunbridge Wells that can make bespoke rads for a good price.
When the rad in my Matra went, no-one had a clue but this guy built me a knew one from scratch.
Cost about £150 as far as I remember.

£575 for a recore of the old unit is quite a lot, it might be good to shop around before saying yes..!! Have you checked with David Askew..??

Refer to my earlier post #13. Do you know that you need to replace both cores. The smaller core is at the front and is most prone to damage. When I had mine re-cored they tested the rear core when they split radiator casing and that was fine so they just replaced the smaller front core. Don't forget to replace 3 hoses that connect the two cores on near side with silicon pipes - you never know it may be just the rubber hoses and clips that have failed which is a relatively small cost - unfortunately you will only know for sure once you or your rad specialist remove the casing that houses the two cores.
