Correct zag. Its the evacuation procedure of women and children first. First used on HMS Birkenhead in 1852 (iirc) later used on the Titanic. However its not really been used since as you needed able bodied crew members to man the life boats.
Certain cruise liner Captains think its OK to be the 1st person off the ship these days.
