The forced jewish prostitues that were tasked with entertaining them.

Close enough?

Winner. Joy Division were originally called Warsaw Pakt. They changed their name as there was another band with a similar name. They had read of The forced Jewish prostitutes in the Nazi concentration camps who were known as the joy division in a book called House Of Dolls.

I thought that they were just called 'Warsaw' after a credit on a David Bowie album. But you're right on the lack of profit due to the cover. You must have paid attention to the film 24 hour party people.

OK so similar, music based obscurity.

From where did the band 'The Teardrop Explodes' get their name.

Possibly not obscure enough

Influenced by L.S.D., they took their name from a Marvel comics(Fantastic Four)episode...

Ah right.....so what was it then.......

Ah it was .... taken from a panel caption in the Marvel comic strip Daredevil (No. 77).

It was the first bubble they saw on the first page...

I'm just a fan of their music. I've seen most of the documentaries on them. Your right about the name Warsaw. Warsaw Pakt were the name of the band they didn't want to be confused with. I had a memorable few hours at Paris airport waiting for a flight having a few beers with Peter Hook. He had been in France with a new band he was mentoring.

That is what I though, have a copy somewhere - guess it won't be a super rare record then ;)

Depends which pressing you have, if it is the first pressing then it is worth a nice amount.
