Wasn't Stonehenge previously privately owned by an industrialist, maybe a manufacturer of locks? Not sure who exactly or why, or when come to think of it?!

I think you're there, Stonehenge was given to the nation by the Chubb family I think, somewhere around WW1

Well done
It was Stonehenge, I can't remember who owned it before but John Chubb of Chubb locks bought for his wife in 1915 - she didn't like it, so he bequeathed it to the nation in 1918
Glad somebody got that I was dreading having to think of another question!!

OK, so staying with the stone theme.

Who owns the Henry Moore statue 'Draped Seated Woman' which can be seen at the fantastic Yorkshire Sculpture Park?

The sculpture was moved to Yorkshire from the previous area where it was positioned. It remains in the ownership of where it was previously kept

Now I think this may belong to a Yorkshire council and they have had pressure to sell rather than put council tax up?

Having visited the fantastic (yes you are right) Sculpture Park many times, I believe I know this one, but will let it run for a while
Am I right in thinking there is a political angle to this too?

OK
I think the owner is Tower Hamlets and they have loaned it to the Sculpture Park
I believe there was some controversy when they wanted to sell it for squillions and the nation rebelled.
The statue did reside in the GLC area for some time - unappreciated hence the loan to us culture vultures in Yorkshire!
