Hi G-Loc, nice looking Ghibli, what were you driving previously and how does this compare ? Is yours Petrol or Diesel and if Petrol is it an S ? I am fighting the urge to get a Granturismo and looking at getting a 2017+ low miles v6s ready to switch back to office working in October. Who did you buy from, Dealer of Private ?
Is a Petrol S version 66 plate. Previously was driving a 330d GT and a 4200 Cambiocorsa for weekends, but wanted to consolidate to 1 car that was a bit of fun but also carry wife+3 kids. My previous 'family cars' were all Alfas- two 156s and a 159 (all petrol) so nice to get back to the benzina! TBH the 330d GT was a incredibly competent and practical car, with no little speed either, but failed to stir the soul. The 4200 Coupe CC was a thing of beauty and the V8 thunderous, but always something expensive round the corner (despite having a wonderful independent nearby), the CC box prehistoric now we are all used the ZF boxes, and it hated slow traffic. Not to mention a satnav that ran off a CD, and every plastic surface gone sticky!
Driving the Ghibli S obviously is not as sonorous as the V8, but is nice and throaty in sport mode. Also I find myself driving it in (sport) manual mode so it can be revved long and high in the gears, and it sounds pretty good in kick down as well. I can honestly say I never had any desire to ever drive the BMW Sooter in manual. So overall much more fun in the car I end up spending 90% of my driving in anyway!
PS. Was a trade purchase. 37k miles, extended Mas warranty to Dec '21. It was the colour I wanted, with the dark grey wheels I wanted, luxury pack (extended alcantara on ceiling etc) and had the touch-screen infotainment which was also a prerequisite for me. BTW I found that private sellers were very sticky on price-may be not surprising-dealers willing to do a deal on a car they've paid £20k p/x for, vs a private seller who will be taking £10ks in depreciation even if they did not buy new.
