QP V (06) - what to pay?

I've been offered a 2006 QP as a trade/private sale. No warranty therefore, but it's been checked over by a specialist I trust and all is in good order. It's black with cream interior, has done 48,000 miles and has full history and 2 previous owners. Clutch reading is 57% worn.

It's got a decent spec, including front parking sensors, sunroof, piano interior, tinted glass, upgraded 19 inch wheels.

It'll need tax, MOT and an annual service in a month or so. It also needs a proper valet and the wheels refurbished.

So - what's it worth?

I know that Dicky Grace has a 2006 a 50,000 mile car up at circa £25k, but that's been prepped and includes a warranty. On the other hand, there is a grey 2006 car for sale at a dealer in Chichester for circa £16k, and that presumably is also prepped and warrantied. For what it's worth, "webuyanycar" say £12,200!

Your thoughts are welcome!

Webuyanycar is ********.......Dicky's is a GT Sport which is always worth more than a standard QP...Surely being a 2006 it must be worth 20k......Not many 2006 cars are under 20k..one or two.......

If the seller is going to do the service and MoT, make sure it's done by a specialist. An oil change only does NOT constitute a service. It could easily be due new plugs (not easy to reach) etc etc.

A spend of £2k (max) would see this car serviced, taxed, MOT'd, refurbished, valeted and back to full glory. If I was to buy such a finished car from a dealer, surely it would cost in the twenties - so it must be worth more than, say, £15k in its current state. Just seems like a lot of car for the money.

IF we were talking about a 2grand run about car and 200 quid to service it then i would be inclined to agree.
but we are not
we are talking about a 20 Grand super car with No MoT...that cost between 30-55 quid..
there is no excuse for selling a car like this with no mot....and a month or under on the mot slip constitutes no mot imo.
so if someone is selling it like that then they get little over scrap value..

The clutch would put a lot of people off, ok it's got life yet but it does kinda have a £2k bill hanging over it.

If it were me I would offer £14 and settle at no more than £15,500....but QP's are not my area really.

The current MOT has a few more weeks to run, but the owner is going moving abroad and I'm sure it's not overly high on his priority list! But I take your point. A cheeky bid can't harm. But it still amazes me just how much car ou can buy for such "little" money. Last time I had a 2006 QP it cost me £50k - but that was a few years back, from a main dealer...

All I can add, is that 3 years in to owning a December '06 QP Sport GT...there are no short cuts. I reckon I have spent £3k plus pa on servicing etc plus a new clutch last year. My car is at 45k miles. So, I am sure there are bargains out there but you should factor in the costs of getting it to A1 plus the annual outlay to keep it that way.

See this is amazing me...I look at QP prices all the time and if you manage to get if for 15k you will have had a bargain for a 2006.............Miles aren't massive, MOT and Tax not expensive...........

There is currently one 2006 QP for sale under 20k on PH....and thats is grey with black leather which is not the best combo...50k on the clock...17k......The next one is up for 23k........It sounds like this car once the bits have been done will be worth 20k plus....19k min....

I bought my 2006 QP with 30k miles in November for just under ove £19k. So, I would say that £15k is a great price.

I plan to go see it later today, so will report back. I certainly don't need another car, but if the price is right and I can run it over the summer and then maybe sell it for level (or possibly even a tiny profit), why not?

I really don't see the clutch as an issue. This car could easily do another 20,000 miles on the current clutch. I sold my last QP with the clutch wear at about 75% (it was on its original clutch and had done about 35,000 miles). Two years on and the car is still running fine on that same clutch. I can't see why anybody would change the clutch until the wear figure was towards (if not over) 90%.

Paid £15k for mine with 56k on the clock, BUT.......beware, i have extensive mechanical knowledge and i knew the pifalls with buying from the trade, it will have cost me a further £3k in parts alone to get it up to scratch.
