You know the answer - old, colour, miles , potential for £5k bill etc etc. not putting anyone off but that's why a lot of people won't touch. Bear in mind that a similar age German barge will be cheaper but is likely to go just as wrong electronically but without the sky high clutch/brake costs.

You're right, that is an awful lot of car for the money - if it checked out with an inspection, what's not to like?

Wouldn't have minded a look at that but its a long way to drive for it to be a rough one. Would be nice alongside the 4200!

Tell you what though, old will become classic, colour is a personal thing (although I do think that Grigio Granito is better - guess my colour, he he,) and miles really shouldn't come too much into it if the car is well maintained. Even with a £5k bill you'll end up with a sorted very special motor. I think this comes down to why you buy a car - to enjoy it or polish it ready for the next owner. Personally I'm in my QP at every opportunity, it's my daily driver, I'm whacking on the miles and loving every minute. I just can't worry about resale values with a diving experience like this, it'll be what it'll be, but I reckon I'll eventually pass on a well cared for classic when she goes for my next target of the 4.7 GTS, now that one I might keep forever !

They're a while off being classic but compared to the new ones, theyre considered the preferred car by many due to a number of factors.

Lots of ppl have told me how they love the back of the car when it's in front. I've had it likened to an Italian Rolls Royce from the rear.

You're right there. I've now driven most of the new ones including the QP in various flavours, loaned to me by the main dealer while mine is in for regular warranty bits, but I can't wait to swap the loan aircraft carrier back to my Pininfarina styled beauty - ahhhhhh..

Far too many of them to be considered a classic for at least another 10-15 years.

Ask RG why they are so cheep...because the potential repairs could be more than the car is worth...Not just clutch and brakes but oil filled suspension mounts which are prone to leaks as well as variaitors going clackty clack and as the miles build the value falls.

As pointed out earlier if the parts were reasonable it would not be an issue but very sadly they arn't

Even if you look at some of the early Cambio corsa and GranSports, they are old and near "classic" but when on the road they "fit in" and certainly don't look too old.

IMO this sense of longevity is down to the Pininfarina styling, something I'm not sure exists with the new Qps or much to a lesser degree anyway.

Crikey, this all sounds a bit practical when we're on the subject of Italian cars. I'll take whirr, buzz, clackty clack, vroom, roar, more roar etc. over German practicality, security or residualls any day, sod the expense (which I've had plenty of already, thank god for warranty !).
My QP continues to turn more heads and get more envious comments than my Mercs or Porsches ever did. - that's the really important value which will hopefully fall much more slowly.
