After a fair amount of searching, I think I've found an almost perfect cheap (£50) solution: Mitsubishi GTO alloy space-saver.
Has exactly the right PCD and equally important, exactly the same bore.
It arrived this morning, and in 15 minutes I'd proved to myself that it works just fine. Arrived dirty though...
Easily clears the calipers on the front - the rears are nowhere near the wheel.
Standard bolts are too long.
It won't quite sit flat in the boot when fully inflated, but I'm certain that when deflated it won't be a problem, and the boot floor will go back over it.
So, I just need to sort out some appropriate bolts (about 30mm shorter), a cover to keep the boot clean and a suitable lightweight jack. Then we are in business
