QP Rattling/Banging noise when going oiver bumps

Well the company who have had my QP for the last 4 weeks repairing the Variators/Caps with non return valves and fixing the problem with the rattling/banging coming from the suspension when you go over bumps have rang me today to say that they have finally put it all back together and took the car out for a test drive, but what they thought was a bush needing replacing has not fixed the noise, when they were adamant when they inspected the car that it was a bush.

They have taken the car over to a 4 post lift and can't see anything, they have taken it to an MOT place and put it on their rumble road test and it didn't do it on there, but when they take it on the road and go over rough ground it rattles like a worn joint. They have said without slowly replacing or stripping the complete suspension that they can't resolve it and are returning the car on Friday.

Any ideas or suggestions where I could take it that will be able to diagnose the fault without stripping and replacing everything, it sounds to be coming from the front offside.

Would welcome your thoughts lads.

Thanks.

Hi I would suspect an anti roll bar drop link, changed these on my sons punto and daughters Vauxhall and both times it was the cure for noises over rough ground and not always obvious when you get a bar to lever them to see if there is any play in them.

Let me know how you get on. I have the same issue on my GTS. Seems worse after I get it cleaned...

Well, I finally got the vehicle back late yesterday and having driven the car today I can confirm that the suspension has been fixed, the costs and rectification are as attached.

The Super Car Rooms claimed that they could not find the fault the first time round even though they acknowledged it was bad, they then claimed that it was now identifiable even though I had only done 264 miles in between time. :frusty6:

I have suggested to them that because it was rushed as they had the vehicle for such a long time that the fault was missed!

Anyway, no more noise and the vehicle feels like a totally different car.

£1129.90 Though!!! And they still charge for checking it over even though they missed it the first time round.

£65 for a bolt , a bolt can only be a measured strength, diameter and length, how on earth can it be £65

£1100 to replace 4 bushes and cut a bolt out is a bit much, could your transport guy not have saved you some of the transport costs

I only paid £1000 for my guy to remove an engine and gearbox, strip and rebuild the engine and refit it on a xk8

A wishbone bush on a QP is no different to any other car.

Last week he did a full service on my yeti inc fitting a cambelt and water pump for £300 so I'd trust him to do a wishbone bush

Is this being paid for by the supplying dealer

£54 for a bolt! Must be titanium at the very least?

Glad you have got it back anyway. Any more death threats from the vendor?

Yep Lads, I thought the same, the finance company agreed for it to go back and the rattling reviewed, they were away so couldn't authorise the final repair bill, however I paid for it and have now submitted the final bill to them, if they decline then I shall commence legal proceedings against Benz Bavarian the W*****s who sold me the car in the first place and subpoena Close Finance as Witnesses, which I am sure they will decline and settle.

As closure I have updated and replied to this thread: -

Darren, my local transport guy can't handle vehicles over 1.75 ton until later on this month and the company who collected it are brilliant and it was collected enclosed, if anyone needs their details then give me a shout.

Newton, there never was any threats from Frixou, he's just a total a$$hole to deal with, typical car sales man, I imagine through the 80's he wore a big gold medallion and dyed his air, reminds me of Boycie off only fools and horses, in fact there is a strange resemblance except the height: -

Just had a look at superformance, they do list a bolt at £33 + vat for the suspension as well as a few at £2 so I guess it must be the £33 one plus the cost of the Maserati box to take it to £54 + vat

You have had a pretty torrid time.
I am left with the impression that Benz Bavarian are a bunch of Scheisters and Supercar rooms are little better
Hopefully your car is sorted now and I count my blessings I have a good indie nearby

To be fair Dave The Super Car Rooms are good, Steve the MD is a nice bloke, the mechanics are good as well, I just think the Service department is lacking any spine and are not very business minded.

Driving it today it was noticeably better, before I had to rely on the sports button to stiffen everything up, but now it is good without the button on.

I'm not sure Darren as I am no mechanic, but if it is then it looks like they may have taken advantage of this repair!
