The beast is back in my garage after a few days pampering at the Bill McGrath health club for Maseratis.

Annual service and MoT.

A brake overhaul solved the inner pistons which had become seized, I don't know how long they were like that but the difference at the pedal is huge; it seems I only have to think about braking now and the car starts slowing. The same overhaul replaced the broken handbrake plates and again the handbrake function is transformed.

Both front shock absorber bushes needed replacing too. The ones which came off it were well crushed. McGraths told me every QP they see has this same problem. A result of driving a heavy car on our awfully surfaced roads no doubt.

They also tended to some corrosion around the sub-frame which they found last summer but we kept until now to deal with. It is nice to know the tin-worm should be kept at bay now.

All in all I am as pleased with Bill McGrath's service as usual. A bunch of trustworthy enthusiasts if ever there was. Nothing was done before detailed quotations and in the few days the car was in their care I had about a dozen updating emails as the work progressed.

It is great having it back and I really enjoyed hooning around Herts this morning. I must plan a long trip now.

Great to hear BM has done good again. Just need the council to re-surface the roads around there, big pot holes and always seems to rain after collection!

Funnily enough they were out in force yesterday resurfacing Kimpton - lot's of diversions in place - lord knows those roads need resurfacing.

And yes it had been raining when I collected the car. McGraths had done a lovely job of valeting it and I immediately blasted around muddy roads in it. I tried to make it drive slowly but it just wouldn't.
