Yes, that's the car. Not sure who the dodgy-looking geezer is trying to nick it, though. To be fair the car has always looked that good - even when I got it, which is why I bought it. The mechanicals needed fully recommissioning, though: in the first 8 months of ownership back in 2003 I didn't get to drive it, just to spend over 18 grand on it. And then I had an engine rebuild... Yes, it's probably worth a separate thread. Not done any work on it myself, so no great adventures there. More a series of conversations that went along the following lines: - 'While we do that, we should also look at X, Y and Z' - 'Oh, OK then" - 'Thanks, that'll be 18 grand please' - 'Righto'
I'm probably the ideal customer for a place like Bill McGrath's. Still, I've got a really nice car at the end of it

Frank,

I won't ask for details of your "Find Willy" game..... Lol

And yes guys this one needs a project to work out what the heck is there. For someone who knows their way around these cars it may be an advantage, but even then it wouldn't be a short visit.

Be a shame if it parted out as they are unloved when compared to other models, but that would cause supply to go down.
Bidding is strong at 17 bids, but if the reserve is unrealistic then it will surely go to the likes of EuroSpares or even McGraths. As my mate would say have you got the kahuna's to take it on. Me I would want a car that was together to start with. Be interesting to find out the state of the engine as there were a few last couple of years where the sodium valves had snapped and caused engine damage, but they had better bodies (or maybe more complete bodies)

I wonder why the wife is selling it, has she called time on a project that is never going to get done. Also a strange color for the car, wonder if it was original, not one I've seen before.

Being a little more discerning... Is there a clue to its origins on the back vallance? To me it looks like it has had US overider blocks removed as part of the attempt at restoration!

Not sure Newton as it's a right hooker so doubt it, unless someone has been re-shelling. Seems to have had a lot of metal let in all over the place, without being there to see the quality of welding, who knows what knock effects there are.

Big project for someone who likes Jigsaw puzzles. 26 bids, 3.3K and still not met a reserve. I think they may have too much on it as that figure is all it's worth due to the work needed. Especially as you consider a low mileage example sold a auction recently for just under 22K. By the time you've added in all the work that's needed (and who knows how good the engine is) it's just not worth it. Think it will end up as parts car in the end.

Agree....way too expensive to put together, plus too many uncertainties nor will it be a high value car.

Parts bin it is!
