From Hull.
Epic journey to collect by rail, for me anyway.
10:22 from Huddersfield direct to Hull, £14 but decided as a special trip to plash out going first class. £26.
Train was delayed by 30 minutes, good start, unfortunately at the first stop in Leeds they decided to terminate. All off. Had to wait another 30 minutes for the next train. Then had to suffer on the tanoy repeating that they are striking tomorrow, but that won't affect me with my new ride.
Consequently the next train was rammed, even going to Hull, but, holding my valuable first class ticket still had a cosy seat in first class, while those that decided not to spend the extra £12 had to mostly stand, at the other end of the train, poor soles.
Departed on arrival and decided to walk the one mile to where my pininfarina beauty was awaiting for me.
It's been a while since I have walked through the middle of Hull City centre, not as bad as many make out.
I arrive at the selling garage, and all are eating fish and chips for lunch in the back office, and I'm told my new pride and joy is at the other parking lot, and they kindly offer me a ride, being on foot.
And there she is, waiting for me, gleaming in the afternoon sun.
I hand over a wad of used notes, and she is mine!
Not wanting to get tugged on the journey back to Yorkshire, I immediately pull into Lidl across the road, and tax her on my laptop, the insurance I sorted out yesterday.
She drove lovely on the way home, at a nice brisk pace, with no issues but one, the built in satellite navigation wasn't working. Fortunately I know my way back home, so not a major problem.
However in compensation the electric sunroof slided back and forth smoothly, and the a/c was nice and cool. Was a tough decision which one to settle on, so did a bit of both, which broke up the boredom of the M62 a little.
The automatic gear changes were also lovely and smooth with a handy lockable overdrive top gear, which is a nice touch.
On arrival at home the kids were exstatic with the new stead joining the stable, with a nod from the Mrs that she approved and I had chosen well.
So tomorrow I will give her a good wash and complete the bonding.
A day to remember for sure.
