Had I been driving the rental Seat I had last week I would have parked in one of the bays tight up against his/her rear bumper. I thought about it but the QP would have been sticking too far out in the passageway.

A town car is a virtual necessity if you have a large and expensive car on which you lavish care and attention. Getting round multi-stories in the GTS is hopeless and the bays are tiny. Which is why I refuse to take it shopping! Still, mustn't gwumble - I love it! In any case the Verso is perfect for almost everything except the joy of driving and the thrill of ownership.

In Sutton in one m/s I go to the 5th floor has extra wide spaces for us wide boys, nice. Only one I've ever seen though.
Thanks all for the comments and advice. Love the idea of paying a premium for a fat parking space and making sure you park in the allocated "bays"! The fine was a PCN and I contacted the council today. I have to put my defence in writing (email or letter) for consideration. The fine is frozen at the 50% discount level until they respond. I've been told this can take 3/4 weeks so will post update thereafter. As it would cost me more than £25 in petrol to go back to Newbury, I shall take a flyer on the CCTV and the formal parking rules displayed. Cheers Darren

gotta have a battle bus, thats a requirement for the supermarket run, my wifes little A class is now knackered where it's been pin dented to death, people have no idea. I've been sitting it it when people have done it. Must point out that I don't do the supermarket run, must have been picked up from the station or something like that.
Plenty of room for you to park nose in, two inches from his driver's door. That's why everyone needs a cheap car.

I think if you drive a larger car...then like the need for family sized and disability sized car parking spaces ...your needs should be taken into account too...you'd have a case in law surely.......after all you pay additional road tax and more to the point should be treated fairly as a car owner of a bigger car....after all the government takes a bigger cut of its value in VAT in its initial sale so they should be aware of larger car driver needs too
