Parking sensors (again)

First time for me but I see others have had plenty of parking sensor niggles.

I picked the car up from McGraths on Friday after its annual - no faults, no advisories, just a nice simple service - when I hopped in to drive off I got the "parking sensor failure" error.

No better place to be when you encounter an error so Paul connected up the reader and, after digging through endless menus to get to it, found a claim of a LH rear sensor failure. He cleared the error, we started the car again and everything seemed fine. With his best wishes I set off.

Arriving in my garage they were working but by the time I had parked they had failed again.

Again yesterday they failed at one point but worked fine elsewhere.

It does seem to be getting better and I'm hoping it will turn into a typical Italian electrical thing and sort itself out.

All part of the character :)

(the car's battery is young and lives on a Ctek)

Well, that's exactly how my sensor problem appeared - intermittent failures, sometime there and sometimes not, but it gradually got more frequent and finally was permanent and then with two sensors. On the bright side, it's an easy fix and has been fine since having replacements (I hope...).

For the 4200/GS the sensors are the same as Alfa. You can either pay about £100 each for Maser parts or £15 each for Alfa off e-bay. The only difference is the Alfa sensor has a plain sensor head whereas the Maser one has a couple of lines across it. However, I don't know if the GS and GT sensors are the same.

Is there an alternative (cheaper) parking sensor for the QP (2007) could do with one for the rear bumper

With unoriginal sensor parking on Granturismo works incorrect. I don't know why, because codes are the same, but when I put original sensor parking works perfectly :/
