Parking sensor costs

Sorry novice questions.

Parking sensors are on the blink. MD has diagnosed faulty front sensor and quoted £475 fitted !

I'm aware they are available for 70 plus vat on eurospares. Thought it would be an hour labour ?
Can the main dealer part be that much more expensive ? I've asked for a breakdown.

Will I need the MD to clear the fault code or could my local garage do that ?

Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

They come in bare white plastic so need painting and maybe they are removing the front bumper to do it. Mine were replaced in about 15 mins and i told them to colour it with a permanent marker, even the dealer commented on how good it matched!

Looks as though you have a facelift QP? If so, then yes they need to remove the bumper (not a brilliant design feature), don't recall why but this was a big surprise to the guys who did mine (originally thought they could do it by reaching up from below, but not the case). Also the connector is different to the earlier QP model so beware buying from elsewhere without knowing what you need. I had to have one front and rear and one done last year, the charge wasn't broken down but looks as though it was about 300 all in (inc VAT and painting), done by a specialist independent I can recommend (in the Midlands). I know one needed the bumper off, can't recall if front or rear.

I can recommend a company that's very good near Watford that I believe DK Engineering use.

Thanks all.
FYI queried it and apparently the quote was for a bumper off repair, however as the offending sensor is in the grill (not bumper) the labour rate came down.
Sensor was £80 plus vat. All in £250. Dare say i could have done it a tad cheaper elsewhere but for convenience said to bat on.

Finding my feet at the moment. Thanks again for the input.
