They say it was on the back seat yet all the paint is in the front.....Surely that is more than meets the eye.....

Any decent forensic officer would tell you that the splatter pattern doesn't add up . Guilty for fraud !

No idea if false claim or not but OMG, you would be suicidal if it happened for real!
Anyone see the ghibli promo video at the bottom of the page.........wtf is that all about???

Agreed, no way the splatter adds up to one loose tin. He probably realised he should have bought a "proper" Maserati and tried to recoup some of the cost ;)

Its probably new for old on their insurance policy within the first 12 months.

Would make a good salvage car if the price was right. Plenty of elbow grease and re connolise and it would come up well again. Even if you had to dye the leather a slightly darker colour.

If the car had swerved to avoid a dog with the paint on the back seat, then why didn't the can end up on the floor in the back? 'Swerved' indicates a sideways movement which would have put the paint can on one side and any braking would have then put the can into the back of the seats and then onto the floor, not the dashboard. The scenario as described in the article smells like an Andouille.

Clearly a missed opportunity; should've got Tracey Emin to sign it and turned a profit.

Doesn't make any sense at all. Apart from the obviously bizarre splatter patterns who the h3ll would leave a tin of paint on the back seat of a car like that? At best, a moron.

And you'd never get it off. No mind of the switches, any kind of thinner + abrasive would destroy the leather. Even if it was emulsion, just the abrasive effect would be enough, IMHO

Ive used steam to get rid of emulsion before now. It goes stringy and peels off. Not sure how that would affect the leather but hopefully less abrasive than other methods.

My wife said to me last night "what would i do if someone poured paint in my Maserati?"

At first i thought one of the kids had done something unthinkable to my car! Then she showed me the article, my relief was tangible!

It certainly doesn't look a tin of paint which fell over when the car swerved. Surely that would simply result in a big puddle of emulsion in the rear seat and footwell. This looks like someone stood outside the driver's door and chucked it in.

It doesn't look like he was holding the steering wheel at the time of the paint incident either judging by the splatter. Steering wheel must have been turned 90 degrees to the left going off the paint run lines. I wonder if there is a divorce looming in that house.

I've just looked at it again. That's not a Ghibli, it's a Duo-Select QP.

Sounds more and more like a dodgy insurance claim.
