I think the only way people were interested in EV's is the ridiculous performance. Without that I doubt they would have a market.
That's the initial draw.

He's right though, who needs a family car that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds? I don't suppose the young children in the back appreciate it much!

Yep, I was in my shopping car the other day following a big Audi EV. He hoovered off down every straight but was easy enough to catch in the corners given his car weighed 2.5x mine.

Just because an electric car can accelerate quickly, doesn’t mean you have to! But it does make overtaking quicker, easier and more safe (with less time spent in the wrong lane).

Huge amount of logic in what he says.

It does but he will not be selling any new Pagan’s in the UK from 2030 then. Not that you do see many anyway and I suppose with the his new car at 6 million pounds doubt it will be bought by many. Saw it at Goodwood and it not a well designed car either to my eyes. Just think of the amount of cars you could have in your garage for 6 million.

I suspect he is largely playing for time until battery density improves materially.

I've no idea on pricing but I do recall Harry at Evo selling his Zonda IIRC partially due to maintenance costs. However, if you look at top end companies it's a great indicator of where the mundane market might be going....normally.

Widening the debate out, having been in both London and at a classic car show recently it reminded me that much of what people want with sports cars is noise, lots of cylinders and retrofit exhausts as cars get older. How they fix that with electrification I'm not sure.

Speakers with ICE car noises coming out of them like the electric 911 racer recreation I saw at the Savile Row Concours.

There is absolutely no reason to design, build, sell, or buy a Pagani. As Marmite cars go they have a certain aesthetic appeal to some but with performance you can't use, and there is no justification for their existence whatsoever.

BTW, if anyone would like to buy one of my kidneys for a decent price I might just pop out and get this:

As the price of a private kidney is about 20-30k you may need to lose a few more organs!

Fixed that for you ;)

And yes, I would if I could. Well maybe not if I had £2.8m around that I could spend on a car, but if I had it I almost certainly would spend it on a car or cars which are totally un-necessary :)

As we get nearer 2030 what’s the betting there will be exemptions put in place for ICE hyper cars which are bought by the super rich. After all they carry the most sway in government.
My guess will be a specific tax, easily affordable by the super wealthy. Of course by then the average driver will have already been priced off the roads! The infamous ‘black box’ will record the journey, and the driver will be taxed accordingly. Like all Road charging it will start off at a low rate, only to be jacked up to an unaffordable level when it’s believed that the public will accept it. After all look at all the garbage that the beleaguered motorist already puts up with. Central London is now 20mph, I’m waiting for the 10pm limit!!!

You'd be lucky to get to 10mph in a lot of roads in London!

Clearly then Phils kidneys are bobby dazzlers and capable of filtering a blue whales output, well worth the price of a pagani.
Spot on. For the mere pittance of £1.4m you can have a look, and for another £1.4m I might let you take one (various terms and conditions will probably apply).
