Opinions please on MC styling

Hey guys. As you know I'm currently searching for a GT, I'm in no rush as id rather wait for that right one then rush into something I'd be unhappy with. Plus the extra wait mean I may even be able to stretch to a GTS

However I still wish I already had one and am investigating and planning what can and shall be done to it when it arrives.
Now as costly as it will be id be tempted to put on MC front and rear bumpers as I like the look, then have the exhausts built to come out the centre too.

Now as much as I would like this myself would anyone else? I mean I would have to sell it eventually and I would not want to hurt resale or appeal.
So my question is would these changes put you off a GT/S or attract you to it.

Thanks

It may / may not put me off, I guess depending on the results. I understand more the front styling change (I think), but the rear on the GTS doesn't offend. But I would imagine the cost of such alterations isn't going to be exactly 'insignficant'.

Overall, it could for many be seen as a bit of pretending to be something it isn't and I could imagine it putting people off. Just my opinion of course!

Yes. The front is a must. But I see what your saying. Would be abit replica like...hadn't thought about that myself...something to consider!

I can't comment on the MC bits but I had convinced myself I wanted a face lifted GTS. However I fell for the pre facelift car I ended up with.

In any guise these things really are stunning and for that reason I'd personally say keep as is.

I agree with this. I may well like it too once I see it but there are plenty of these cars for sale at any one time and from a resale perspective, any customisation like this in my opinion will serve to reduce your potential market when you come to sell and I don't believe you would recoup your money either. I may be totally wrong and the right person who wanted to do the exact same thing may well come along but personally, I would stay as is - they are all a thing of beauty regardless of the model in my opinion.

In the meantime, good luck with the search and I hope you are driving one soon, you'll love it!

Thanks again for your opinion. I think the front is a must for me and I can happily justify that to myself by saying it's a factory option. But like I said i don't want to damage resale attractiveness when It comes to it. And I've modified enough to know it's money I'll never see back. I'd just do it because I like the more aggressive styling of the MC bits....

But likewise I want it to be something that everyone would appreciate. Just with my own personal touch.

IMO Maserati's are not cars to be customised other than standard build options and that includes the front. If was looking to buy and found a pre-facelift car with the new front I'd be wondering why it needed a new front end - and what else got damaged in the crash that the owner is not admitting to. No way would I consider buying it unless it was very cheap.
Like Ryandoc, I was looking for a face lifted car but eventually bought a pre-face lift one and have no regrets.

Cheers. Any changes I make would be fairly well documented on here and photo graphed so I'd have proof there was no damage but again this is why I'm glad I've asked as it's throwing up things I hadn't though of.

Even if I did put the MC spoiler and front end on one surely it's still more saleable then some...

Very expensive parts.

Plus, IMO, the GT really didn't need any stylistic enhancements to begin with.

They nailed the design, first time, straight out of the factory.

IMO, going to a bigger engine, from 4.2 to 4.7, was where the big improvement was made.

Personally, I'd be buying a GTS or Stradale next time around for the engine. Not the styling.

I recommend you save your money and wait to save up for the GTS rather than spend on modifications - it is a better car than the standard GT and you'll get more bang for your buck! As for the facelift, I actually prefer the old rather than new fronts (on the MC)...think the fog lamps looks classier than the horrible black gashe-like vents (although the clear lenses are nice), but that's a personal choice and matter of budget as well.

Good thread.

Each to their own, of course, but I think there's an awful lot you can do to the GT and GTS without making things irreversible. I'm on a small cosmetic overhaul mission at the moment and everything I'm doing is fully undoable. If I come to sell (IF! - I love this car) I can get it back to original look and feel in a couple of hours. And until then I can enjoy my simple pimping.

Whilst it may look good when done, I personally would not purchase a car like this with those sort of mods.
Just my opinion but I would buy the car you are going to be happy to look at and then play with the exhaust.

That's a good point George.

A few Maser mechanics have said the same thing.

Best gains are by putting on a Larini exhaust to help the engine breathe and sound even better. Plus minor HP gain.

Well at least they're honest "COMPLETLEY CHANGING THE DESIGN OF THE CAR TO A COMPLETE MONSTER." You're **** right it is - its an F-ugly looking monster! £90k anyone?

Rear MC Styling with center exhaust ports are amazing. They would be expensive though.

What does this look like?

When you say central exhausts do you mean like the Strad?

Can't say I have ever realised the difference between an MC and non MC. Or are you referring purely to the 2014/15 facelift models?

I personally wouldn't buy a car that has been modded. Even if it was cosmetic. How much would something like this set you back? I can't imagine it is cheap.
