Hi guys,

First post here but hopefully not the last. Not even sure this is the correct part of the forum but here goes. In September/October of this year I'll be in the market for a GTS, with the spec as follows:

Grigio Granito
MC shift
Grey Trident wheels
Yellow calipers
Alcantara
Low miles
(all else a bonus)

I've never owned exotica, currently have a 2011 CLS AMG which is excellent but a little safe? so that will be going and replaced with a Maser.
I hope that if i'm in the right place at the right time then maybe around £40k would be achievable on a private sale?, apologies if that's a little optimistic :) I figured that I've the best chance coming here and maybe even if a member had thoughts on a sale sometime this year I'd be happy to wait for the right car.

I'm in Irvine, Ayrshire and to date have seen no GT's on the road up here so something special to spice things up a bit and hopefully you guys can help in the quest, I'd be forever grateful. Distance is irrelevant too, most of my cars have come from South anyway.

Anyway, hope to catchup with some of you soon and look forward to any info/chat/advice/meetings.

All the best

Hi Bob,

No, haven't had the pleasure of a drive yet unfortunately, looking forward to the first time though. And have yet to see one in the flesh as they are like hens teeth up here, i've youtubed plenty though!, and i'm sure there are downsides but right now I can't see any. One thing I'm not sure on is the MC against the auto, everyone is different and what works for one...etc, I'd like to give both a bash before deciding and prob need to go to a dealer for that (Edinburgh I think?). I am looking forward to learning more about the car and if you've any pointers/tips please fire away, appreciate your input. Where in Scotland are you?, I'm west coast (Irvine) Long shot but if you were local I'd treat you to a Costa in return for a drool at your car!!!

Thanks for the offer but I'm east coast, ask plenty of questions though. Glad that you have your eyes open as to driving different GranTurismo's before deciding wihch is right for you.

The guys at Graypaul are great and there is now a dealer in Hamilton as well but I have no experience of it.

BearArse - nice name by the way (not)!

Your spec list will set you back at least low 40's. THE most important things:
GET A WARRANTY (either main dealer preferably or "WarrantyWise" (Richard Grace will do you one of those). Absolutely paramount unless you have several thousands under the mattress.
Get the car FULLY serviced (book says every 12500/2yrs). Make sure EVERYTHING that is required to be done - is done!
Get the car assessed by a Maserati Indy. They will tell you straight - what the car really is like.
Check:
Tyres/brake pads/discs/springs/shox(skyhook only). These go 'relatively' often and bring tears to your eyes in replacement costs!

All of the above 'may' cost you an additional £2000+ but it will be money very well spent. These cars are in a different league to 'normal' car running costs.
[And note - I haven't even started mentioning body panels/engine costs!!!]

Other things to think about:
Are you going to resurrect the NavTrak stolen vehicle policy?
Ring a main dealer with your chassis number and check all the recall items have been done. (Free).

Thanks Zoros,

Valuable information, appreciated. I've got six months(ish) till i'm ready so i'll do as much searching and learning as I can in that time. I may be optimistic with the price but sometimes the wind blows your way and all that. I'm laying groundwork just now in the hope that an enthusiast, maybe even someone on here, has plans to move on soon. I live in hope!

and thanks all for the friendly welcome

We've a Maserati main dealer in the west now Bear. In Armada St, Hamilton. Part of Parks, near their Bentley and BMW garages. They've a good few GTs at any time.

Good luck in the search.
