Hi, My local garage is doing an oil change for me on the QP. They say they’re struggling to get an oil filter ordered. Is this a special part- does it need to be an OEM or could any motor factor supply it?- prices seem to vary from £15-50 when I search online.

cheers

In stock at Eurospares, don't mess about - get OEM and the right one for the engine as the 4.7 and 4.2 engines have different filters. When my local does work on mine, I always order the parts to ensure I get the right quality of part.

Phil, one of the GTs I had inspected (but not bought) had an IVECO truck oil filter fitted. It had the non return valve fitted, but clearly not to spec... that car was serviced by a back street garage, despite 16k on the clocks at 13 years old.

There's nothing special about this filter. Surely someone can make an adapter plate so we can use any other filter rather than this Maserati ripoff item.

I would rather use an original filter even though expensive than rebuild or source a good used engine.
Other filters will fit but why ???

We all know the price of parts on a Maserati are a rip-off but in the scheme of owning a Maserati and the importance of the right oil filter it's one part I wouldn't entertain a cheaper alternative.
