Odd air conditioning

Hi, when I switch econ on it shows econ on display and green light comes on but compressor isn’t turning, turn it off green light goes out and no econ on display and compressor turns and get cold air.
Have econ green light on turn temp to cold, econ light goes out and recirculating light comes on and compressor engages.
Any ideas or is it just me.
It’s like it’s working in reverse.

Econ is ecomony I think so when you turn that on, it turns the aircon off so as to effect better fuel consumption. Or have I got that wrong for years?

That makes sense, I’m thinking it should work like switching on AC but it’s the other way around. Thank you

When you press the button that says "ECON" you are turning the economy mode ON. This means no A/C. The system is working as it should. Owners manual has good description.
